I have to admit, moving to this region was one of the best things I ever did -- 17 years ago --
Since then, there are some things which have become annoying
It seems, traffic has nearly tripled in volume.
I drive through some regions where the culture is truly non - American (not traditional US culture)
It does bother me that there are still so many migrants who seem to have little interest in our country's culture and history. It appears they are here merely for money and many move back to their home countries to retire.
I know this first hand, having married a foreigner who became a citizen before we were engaged.
It is not my spouse who insists on moving back later, but many in laws and aquaintances from that country ARE moving back --
There are a lot of people who come here to use America without truly embracing it.
Some actually enjoy the benefits of living here and seem to hate what the US stands for.
THAT is my biggest gripe with migrants who want to hold on to their culture and refuse to embrace ours, who "love" their home country more than the country in which they are living, which has giving them a HUGE boost in quality of living.
Besides that, I am blessed to live in a neighborhood which is scenic, quiet (compared to surrounding neighborhoods) and it is very convenient being close to everything one wants in the way of stores, restuarants, etc.
As I get older, I tire easy of the cloudy whether -- there's nothing like a canopy of clouds to keep one's spirits a bit down and out!
I am moving to AZ when I retire.
