Visiting the D.C. Metro area for the Holidays. This place sucks more than ever.

How do you guys stand it?

I can't wait to get the hell out of here and head South to go home.

Never leave the house. Multiple large flat screens televisions and 1000+ cable channels.

Never go out anywhere before 8:30 or 9:00 PM. Sadly the inheritance money is runnin' out so I'm gonna have to go out and get a job. Maybe I'll just sell this townhouse and move to Richmond. This area is so full of imported douche-bags these days, I think the best plan is to leave them to it and head for someplace cooler.

If you were born here you'd know.

LOL! Another regurgitation of the same old pathetic lament. The DC area is one of the most desirable areas to live anywhere in the country. You get more for less here than almost anywhere else there is. But if it's all just too much for you here, we won't mind a bit if you pack up early and drag your sorry ass back to the pleasures of East Dustbowl right away. Good luck huntin' up a possum for dinner tonight.

I've lived here since 1983. Almost none of the above back then.

I lived there in the 60s, left in 1980.
Right before the area started turning into total shit.

I lived here in the 60s. Never left. It's been a wonderful life in a wonderful area. You people are just the usual sore-ass, full-of-shit, loser assholes.

I have to admit, moving to this region was one of the best things I ever did -- 17 years ago --

Since then, there are some things which have become annoying
It seems, traffic has nearly tripled in volume.

I drive through some regions where the culture is truly non - American (not traditional US culture)
It does bother me that there are still so many migrants who seem to have little interest in our country's culture and history. It appears they are here merely for money and many move back to their home countries to retire.

I know this first hand, having married a foreigner who became a citizen before we were engaged.
It is not my spouse who insists on moving back later, but many in laws and aquaintances from that country ARE moving back --

There are a lot of people who come here to use America without truly embracing it.
Some actually enjoy the benefits of living here and seem to hate what the US stands for.

THAT is my biggest gripe with migrants who want to hold on to their culture and refuse to embrace ours, who "love" their home country more than the country in which they are living, which has giving them a HUGE boost in quality of living.

Besides that, I am blessed to live in a neighborhood which is scenic, quiet (compared to surrounding neighborhoods) and it is very convenient being close to everything one wants in the way of stores, restuarants, etc.

As I get older, I tire easy of the cloudy whether -- there's nothing like a canopy of clouds to keep one's spirits a bit down and out!

I am moving to AZ when I retire.

AZ = no water, and an ecosystem of death (scorpions, Gila monsters, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, bobcats, javelinas (murderous warthog-like things), tarantulas, and various other deadly spiders. NoVa is a much more gentle place.

Typical elementary school here now in Western Fairfax county.
37% Hispanic
24% Asian
12% Black (Not Of Hispanic Origin)
21% (Not Of Hispanic Origin)
6% Other (whatever the hell that is)

Place has gone to crap. Might as well call this dump Northern Tijuana/Saigon.

Might as well call it Southern New Jersey to hear the rest of you pathetic whiny assholes tell it. Better get used to the fact that people are people. Just buying yourself a lot of heartache otherwise.

It's not the people in America, it's the America in the people that is the issue.
