Is There Anything Fun To Do?

It seems besides the movie theater and some of the better parks, there really isnt too much for under 21yo's to do around here... Any good places to go besides DC or Luray Caverns? Mystery Dinner theaters?

Get a job and purchase your entertainment in plastic wrap like the rest of us slobs.
Also, the Internet. I mean we've got like 3 Tier-1s around here?

I have a full time job... why the hostility? I was just asking for friendly replies. What are tier-1's?

Go to college and have your fun like most other under 21 year olds.

It's not hostility, it was sarcasm.
Tier-1s are major Internet Hosting and/or Backbone providers. We've got AboveNet, RCN, BBNPlanet, AOL, Layer3/Qwest, MCI, and Verio all at our backdoor.

I was implying that around here you do everything on the Internet.

For example: You buy porn or M.A.S.H. box sets off Amazon and then enjoy them in the comfort of your home (plastic wrapped entertainment)
Or: Download every movie starring Chuck Norris through a blistering fast bittorrent.
Or: Play WoW until you die of not peeing for 3 days straight.

Additional implication is that we all work stiff white-collar techie jobs and don't get out much.

If you are going to go as far as Luray I would suggest Shenandoah River Outfitters or one of the other day trip places in Luray. They rent you either a canoe or tubes for going down the river. They drive you up to a drop off point and you float down the river. It beats sweating your ass off up here in a crowded wave pool with a thousand other people.

The last time I went some girls from the University of Maryland were taking a canoe down. At certain points you can get out and swim. They took their tops off to swim so I wasnt complaining but Gf was. Typical woman hates to see a guy having fun.

There are plenty of county fairs going on now. Seriously. Go on some rides at night. Maybe you'll hook up with a fat redneck chick in the back of her pick-up. Then in 9 months LurLeen will try to track you down because you will be her Baby Daddy.

What? You're a chick?

Well, if you are under 21 and over 18 and looking for advice on this board, you must be a cow or missing an arm or something. Sorry, but I calls them as I sees them.

hko an nik... if thats really how you guys spend your time I feel sorry for you. How many hours a day do you spend in front of a screen? Get outside and stop living life vicariously through some video game!

Myspaceaddict : stick to the parks...there are some wonderful trails on the western side of the county, check out Hemlock overlook park in Clifton

Haha, you've got me pegged.

Yeah, actually, if you're on MySpace (and over 18 - otherwise you're jailbait, since I'm 18), send me your URL so I can add you.

I don't really get it, to be honest... Are you implying that Gravis is a kitten?

But thanks for calling me "the shit" anyway.

Kayak clubs. Great fun and good exercise. Some real experts here on the Potomac that you can learn a lot from.

Bull run skeet and trap shooting. You can rent everything you need.

If you like history, tons of stuff here. Most of the civil war was fought near here. Gettysburg PA, Manassas, wilderness and Fredericksburg, Antietam MD.

Mount Vernon, with a good onsite restaurant that serves recipes from Washington's own table. A new brewery just opened up there.

Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is really nice.

National arboretum is nice. On the capital grounds, they have the botanical gardens. Its in a green house at the capitol grounds. They have a multi story cat walk through a rainforest.

The zoo. I've been hundreds of times. Super cool.

If you look in city paper, they list all the art gallery's and museum's in DC. A lot to choose from. Most are free.

The Smithsonian institution has so many buildings to go through. Free tour's are available and are so much more interesting than just walking through. Ive been going there for over 40 years and still find something new when I go.

Many live theater venues. Kennedy center.

Every Monday all summer, the Iwo Jima has marine corps ceremony. Silent drill at Marine Corp barracks on SW 8th st DC. Free.

Whitehouse tour. Ask your congress representative for tickets. The Christmas tree from every state at the mall now going on. Free

The new and Gaulley river rafting. Over night trips are a great time. Especially if you get a group to go. They camp out, feed you, bar and pool.

Williamsburg. Tons of stuff. 2 1/2 hours.

The beach. Not just ocean city, but Chincoteague (3 hours) colonial beach(only 1 1/2 hours away).

The great dismal swamp. Very cool. Southern Virginia on the border. (3 1/2 hours)

In Fairfax they have the Huntley Meadows park near route 1 and telegraph Rd. You would never know its there. A walk way through the wetland is long and interesting.

The navy yard in SW DC. Lots of cool stuff.

The spy museum. DC near Verizon center.

Caps. Wizards. Gwu basketball. gmu basketball.

Off 123 in great falls, the Claude Moore farm from the 1700's. They have events and tours all year.

Great fall Maryland side.

Air Space museum at Dulles airport. Free except for parking.

Harper's ferry. A nice day and close.

Winchester VA on Friday and Saturday nights. They closed off some streets in the old town and have bands, events, and lots of restaurants. Only an hour or so.

Middleburg, Leesburg, Fredericksburg ball have events all year that make Clarendon look small. None are too far away. Hour or less. Richmond has a young vibrant population and tons of good restaurants.

The local high school football games are better than the redskins some days. A lot cheaper.

The 1930 club is always a good time downtown.

I never have had trouble finding something to do here. It is a great area and is reasonable driving distance to a lot of stuff. Keep looking. Lot's to do. A lot of free stuff too.
