don't know why everyone has their nuts twisted, .The kids still get the same ammount of time in the classroom they have always gotten and are required to get by law.

Year round school

If people wanted to do the best thing for students, we'd have year round school. Students retain much more when they don't have the entire summer off. Expand quarters to 11 weeks, with a 2-week break after each quarter. Students would actually get more school time, there'd be ample time for holidays/trips, etc. and everyone would be happy.

actually most studies for or against year round schools show inconclusive results for it's academic benefits. For every study you find that is for year round you can find a study that is against it.
In the end all that matters is how good the teachers are and how willing the student is to learn.

When FCPS did away with the early closing Mondays, they got a lot of extra days in exchange.
Ten days off at Christmas is one of the gifts everyone got!
Except parents that have to pay for childcare!

not everyone, only the NON 12 month employees and students get the full winter vacation. Those that are 12 month employees only get 4 days off this year which is christmas eve/Christmas and new years eve/new years.
