regardless of your view, If the day came where i was put in a situation where i had to choose between life and death by either attempting to defend myself or not do so. I would choose to at the very least attempt to defend myself with whatever means i could.

Fact is no matter what your opinion is or my opinion is, the right to own a gun is protected and will never be taken away. A constitutional ammendant would have to be passed to do so and those take a super majority of congress and states to take affect.

Die with your boots on rather than use them to run away and live to see another day. That's a good definition of DUMB. Powerfully and pathetically DUMB.

The 2nd Amendment does not at all mean what you think it means. Just this week, the Supreme Court declined to review laws banning assault weapons. By its inaction, the court also left in place a variety of lower court rulings that allow restrictions on carrying a weapon outside the home, among other things. Your individual right -- in existence only since 2008 -- is narrow, tenuous, and susceptible to a broad range of regulation.

So when is the last time a "good guy with a gun" tried to stop a mass shooting and ended up making it worse?

We'll never know. None of these "good guys with a gun" have even left their mark, yet. Just a whole lot of bullshit, bravado and lack of action.

That's bullshit, there have been a lot of cases of people saving the day with firearms.

I was posting about these just yesterday.

When was the last time a "good guy with a gun" stopped a mass shooting?

"John Parker Jr., an Umpqua student and Air Force veteran, told multiple media outlets that he was armed and on campus at the time of the attack last week. Parker and other student veterans (perhaps also armed) thought about intervening. “Luckily we made the choice not to get involved,” Parker told MSNBC. “We were quite a distance away from the actual building where it was happening, which could have opened us up to being potential targets ourselves.”

Parker’s story changed when he spoke to Fox News' Sean Hannity. Instead of saying he “made the choice” not to get involved, Parker said school staff prevented him from helping."

Sorry, Nutty, but a current or former LEO isn't a'good guy with a gun'. They're trained professionals.

Authorities say no charges will be filed against an Uber driver who shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire on a crowd of people in Logan Square over the weekend.

The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State's Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.

A group of people had been walking in front of the driver around 11:50 p.m. Friday in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when Everardo Custodio, 22, began firing into the crowd, Quinn said.

Yesterday, you were posting known-bullshit about Honduras versus Switzerland, you pathetic lying little asshole. In your six-month old Uber-driver story, a CCW guy shot a gunman who had supposedly opened fire on a crowd of people on a busy city street. But the only person injured in the incident was the guy the Uber-driver managed to hit with three of the six shots he recklessly fired. No one else received a scratch. In your other story (from 2007 -- LOL!) the perp was wounded by a retired (female) police officer, and then committed suicide. And these are presumably your BEST examples. What a hapless fucking DORK!

Finding one not really relevant story from six months ago is about par for your stupid-ass course. The FACTS are that "good guys with guns" don't show up and don't accompliosh much id they do.

Supposedly? The article leaves no room for doubt. He was charged with aggravated battery with a gun.

Doesn't sound reckless, it sounds like a win. He was able to successfully take down the assailant without harming anyone else.

There is no educating these stupid libfag fucktards. For them there is no grey area, EVERY situation is more dangerous because of guns.

I don't even like guns that much, honestly I just hate libtards and their myopia much more. I wouldn't recommend anyone I didn't know well to get a gun for self defense, they simply are not for everyone. Libtards even more so.

The possibility of libtards defending themselves always involves a policeman or a teacher or a parent. They feel no obligation to self protection or to defend others in a responsible manner.

Got a meeting to go to, there is plenty of documentation of responsible gun owners stepping up to stop crimes. Yes, there are the tales of the idiots that blast their wife or kids thinking it is the intruder, but remember, they don't publish stories in the papers about robberies that didn't happen because the perp feared the targeted victim may have a gun.

Continue with the hallucinations! LOL

Yo, Super-Turd. The guy is reported to have let six shots fly on an allegedly crowded city street. This is beyond reckless, and is how what you mindless gun-fucks dismiss as "collateral damage" gets done. And this was allegedly after the bad guy had opened fire on a crowd and miraculously didn't hit anybody either. The whole thing sounds like another NRA sham-story to me. Bullets flying all over the damned place and only the designated-villain gets hit? Come on now with some other dumbass shit for the rest of us to laugh at.

Allegedly? The dude was sentenced to four years in jail for firing his gun.

So, how many mass shootings have there been in past year? Around 400, right?

We know that in one instance, just one, a 'good guy with a gun' saved the day (and even though he discharged his weapon six times, luckily he didn't harm or kill any innocent bystanders).

We also know that in at least one instance, one (or possibly two) 'good guy with a gun' chose not to intervene because it might have made him a target of the shooter. Obviously, very few 'good guys with a gun' present at as mass shooting who don't intervene are going to admit they pussiness.

What have we learned?

1) Under certain circumstances (very few?), the presence of a 'good guy with a gun' can save the day (provided no innocent bystanders are injured/killed).

2) Under other circumstances (most?), the presence of a 'good guy with a gun' who wimps-out/pees his pants/faints will make no difference at all.

In a perfect world you wouldn't need guns. This is not a perfect world.

like to know where you get this number from and backed up with facts. The problem with mass shooting statistics is what defines a mass shooting. Some include gang activity and some do not. I've seen mass shooting statistics as high as 354 to as low as 4 for the year 2015. which to believe? most people are going to believe the one that fits their personal view whether it is backed up by facts or not. for instance 90 percent of the cases mentioned in the 354 count is listed as source "unknown" thus their statistic is already not credible.

You didn't learn shit. You provided ONE example of your second scenario. The exact same number examples of the guy with the gun taking out the shooter.

The third scenario is the most likely. A good guy with a gun isn't anywhere around.

The fact of the matter is, most active shooters kill most of their victims in 10 minutes or less, and the best police department in the country is going to be about a 5-7 minute response. If you’re in a position to try and take the gunman down… to take the gunman out, it’s the best option for saving lives before police can get there

Why don't the "good guys with a gun" band together, fly to the Middle East and take out the "bad guys with a gun"? Sorta put your gun where your mouth is scenario.

LOL! The article mentions no such thing, you pitiful liar. Sentences for aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon were later sustained. That's what they hit you with when you are caught shooting a gun in the air on New Years' Eve. That's NOT what they hit you with when you actually open fire into a crowd of people.

The most important actual take-away from all this ignorant gun-fuck lying is that as the result of this incident, Uber banned all drivers and passengers from carrying guns while participating in the company's service. That's how impressed THEY were. They were fortunate not to face multiple wrongful death actions as the result of the gross recklessness exhibited by their poorly-trained employee.

A person commits aggravated discharge of a firearm when he or she knowingly or intentionally discharges a firearm in the direction of another person.

You're a big fucking liar. Take your lies somewhere else, fucknut.

Idiot. The perps COME for your guns. Guns are one of the things things that thieves MOST like to walk away with. About a quarter million guns are stolen every year in this country. Estimates are that 25-30% of stolen guns are never reported because gun-owners are too embarrassed to admit how careless and stupid they were. There are presently tens of millions of stolen guns in circulation, all of them (by definition) in the hands of criminals.

Wrong, asshole.

Household burglaries involving stolen firearms were more likely to be reported to police (86 percent) than burglaries involving the theft of other items (62 percent) of comparable value ($500-$999). When a handgun was stolen, about 90 percent of burglaries were reported to the police.

Assuming that ANY of this daft story was actually reported correctly, it would have been only a bizarre stroke of luck that allowed people to escape being killed by the entirely unwarranted actions of the Uber driver. Had he in fact killed any of the allegedly many bystanders with his reckless spray of gunfire, both he and Uber would have been up to their necks in very expensive lawsuits.

No such fact is in evidence at all, you simple moron. The so-called perp in this case was not charged with any crime or attempted crime against any other person. There is absolutely no question at all on the other hand that by firing wildly on a supposedly crowded street, the Uber driver put many other people at serious risk of death and injury. THOSE are the facts, pinhead.

Let me explain this slowly in hopes that you will be able to follow along. Aggravated discharge is any shot fired in the direction of any building or vehicle that a person knew or reasonably should have known might be occupied. This incident occurred in Logan Square in Chicago. It's an urban neighborhood. ANY shot fired in ANY direction at all in Logan Square would meet the definition of aggravated discharge. Any discharge in the actual direction of an actual crowd of actual people on the other hand would have met the definition of the crime of attempted murder, and that would have been the charge that was brought. Such a charge was not brought because that's not what happened. What happened here was that a tired Uber driver misunderstood and over-reacted to what he was seeing, and was damned lucky that he didn't end up killing anybody. For whatever reason, the police chose not to bring charges against him. The guy he shot three times was left to face low-grade weapons charges. You can go back to sucking eggs now, dumbshit.

Wrong again. As predicted, you're feebly attempting to weasel your way out of your ignorance.

Read section 2 of the statute:
Discharges a firearm in the direction of another person

The above statute is what you called "attempted murder."

It's not shooting "your gun in the air on New Years Eve" as you ignorantly claimed.

Shooting tracker is a BS site, ran by liberals who are for gun control, their statistic are not what the definition of a mass shooting is. The FBI defines a mass shooting as where 3 or more people or KILLED. The majority of the ones on shooting tracker involves no fatalities. If you follow the FBI definition of a Mass Shooting then the number is around 4 not 354

There is as yet no commonly accepted definition for "mass shooting", but the standard of "four casualties" is quickly coming to be that definition. Another couple hundred of these incidents (maybe another 6 months or so) should be enough to make that the accepted de facto standard. As for the "shootingtracker" website, its results and methodologies have been deemed reliable and impartial enough for them to have become the current go-to source for such data. As compared to the freaking NRA, they are God's own word on the matter.

Meanwhile, the pathetic Uber example of the phony "Good guy with a gun" rot-shit NRA meme has completely fallen apart. In the end, there is no confirmed evidence that the original shooter posed any actual threat to anyone. No injuries at all are reported to have resulted from his actions -- not even minor ones -- and only low-grade weapons charges were ever pressed by authorities. The Uber driver by contrast clearly did act in a reckless manner that put many people at risk through a rash and callous disregard for life and limb. And this is like the best example that the guntard dumbfucks could manage to come up with. At least since 2007! LOL! What a bunch of sorry-ass, drenched-in-bullshit, slow-brained losers!

how can they be impartial when they don't follow what is officially considered the definition of mass shooting by the FBI?

Their stats include gang activities, also includes non gun related crimes too, there is a report in there where the criminal was using a knife but the cops made multiple shots. So when the actual good guys shoot to stop a crime in progress or to defend themselves is also considered a mass shooting?

Shooting tracker is complete BS. THe only numbers that should be deemed reliable is the number the FBI has. Even your own libtard NYtimes has an article from mother jones questioning the numbers from Shooting-Tracker, they even state in the report that the owner of the site shooting tracker decided by himself 3 years ago to change the definition of mass shooting to fit his sites agenda. While shooting tracker may be a good source of gun violence, it is not a good source when it comes to what is considered Mass Shootings

I admit, crushing the stupid-ass gun-fuck claims of brain-dead low-life morons like you isn't really much of a challenge or anything. But I do enjoy the sound of your pathetic agonized squeals and screams as the rotting flesh is ripped from your worthless feeble bones.

I think DUMB is defined by reading something completely different than the plain meaning of what was written. He said - "put in a situation where i had to choose between life and death by either attempting to defend myself or not do so" That's backed into a corner, unable to run or hide or summon help. What would you chose to do - submit willingly? Hope you never have to make that choice. Avg police response time in Fairfax is 4+ minutes for Priority 1 events. A lot can happen in 4 minutes if someone is in your house and you are waiting for help to arrive.

In your case, those four minutes are not apt to start until you've already been shot multiple times and are bleeding out on the living room carpet as your family shrieks on horror. Way to go, tough guy. You'll be declared dead at the scene. You won't even make it to DOA.

Guns make it more likely that you will die. They do not make you safer. If you are so driven by fear, save the money you waste on guns and put it toward a simple security system that will create at least four minutes worth of delay. Otherwise be sure your will is up to date.

A person commits aggravated discharge of a firearm when he or she knowingly or intentionally discharges a firearm in the direction of another person.

So, the guy shooting at a crowd of people posed no actual threat, but the guy that saved their lives by taking down said shooter was reckless and put people at risk?

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the defunct mind of a liberal piece of shit. Enjoy!

Thanks for claryifing for me, to add i also said "by whatever means i could" which does not necessarily mean pulling out a gun, could be simply using bare fists. whatever is on hand at the time could be used

Hmmm...now you've interpreted "waiting for help to arrive" as "actively confronting an intruder" - are you familiar with the term reductio ad absurdum? You are quite good at it.

For someone so willing to give up your natural right to defend your life in person, you are awfully aggressive on the internet.

Run, Hide, Fight - everyone should know the below, whatever your thoughts on defending yourself:

1.RUN
• Have an escape route and plan in mind
• Leave your belongings behind
• Keep your hands visible

2. HIDE
• Hide in an area out of the shooter’s view
• Block entry to your hiding place and lock the doors
• Silence your cell phone and/or pager

3. FIGHT
• As a last resort and only when your life is in imminent danger
• Attempt to incapacitate the shooter
• Act with physical aggression and throw items at the active shooter

HOW TO RESPOND WHEN LAW ENFORCEMENT ARRIVES

• Remain calm and follow instructions
• Put down any items in your hands (i.e.,bags, jackets)
• Raise hands and spread fingers
• Keep hands visible at all times
• Avoid quick movements toward officers such as holding on to them for safety
• Avoid pointing, screaming or yelling
• Do not stop to ask officers for help or direction when evacuating

INFORMATION YOU SHOULD PROVIDE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OR 911 OPERATOR
• Location of the active shooter
• Number of shooters
• Physical description of shooters
• Number and type of weapons held by shooters
• Number of potential victims at the location

CALL 911 WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO

man, you sure have been brainwashed over the years of your life. There is no use trying to debate with you if you do not have an open mind and is closed to all else. I'm just happy that your opinion is in the minority on this subject. The vast majority of american enjoy the right to use, own or even have the possiblity to own a gun if they so choose in their life.

I personally never owned a gun until recently when i took up Range shooting, never really cared about it but still wanted the right to own one if i chose too. I finally chose to but for mostly recreational purpose which has the side benefit of personal protection if the need ever arose where i had no choice but to use it.

when your only option is to either stand up and fight or lay down and curl up to die, most common sense people will fight for their life. There are times when you cannot count on others, the Police is not there for your protection, they are there to try an deter, react to, investigate and or bring to justice what has already taken place

Spare me the 'holier than thou' military reverence shtick. Like anyone else, soldiers chose their occupation.

I'm sure that enlisting, for a few, is a 'call top duty'; for many others, though, it's the best gig they could find/ticket out of East Podunk. They see the world, learn a skill/trade, and they're gone.

I pay the military to protect my rights: It's their job.

There is NO ACTUAL EVIDENCE at all that anyone was shot at except by the Uber-driver -- you know, the guy who was thought by police to have sent half his shots flying wildly toward what was supposedly a crowd of people.

Ladies and gentlemen? LOL! Go suck a bag of dicks you pathetic little middle school douchebag. That IS the statute. It was copied and pasted straight from it. D'oh. Can't weasel your way out of this one. YOU goofed AGAIN.

Except for, you know, eyewitness testimony and the fact that he was convicted of a crime where you have to prove all of the elements of the crime. Being found guilty of that crime indicates the following was true:

- The defendant
1. knowingly or intentionally
2. discharged a firearm
3. in the direction of another person

> the guy who was thought by police to have sent half
> his shots flying wildly toward what was supposedly
> a crowd of people.

Facts not in evidence. You don't know the Uber driver's position vis a vis the defendant and the crowd. As for wildly, you have no evidence to support that. He may have missed the suspect by a fraction of an inch.

Again, you have had the everliving shit stomped out of you. You are ragged mess on the side of the road that has been pummeled by a column of tanks.

I posted that - it's from the DHS Active Shooter Pocket Card - yes, there is such a thing. I will run first, I will hide second, I will call 911 as soon as I can, and if it comes time to fight, I am armed to the teeth and have a carry permit. That is rational and well-informed.

Fewer than 35% of US households have a gun. The number has been dropping for years. Like cigarette smokers and old white men, gun-owners are slowly fading away. Except of course if you live in the wilds of Alaska or some other such god-forsaken place. "Phasers on stun" would still be a good idea out there though.

For Christ's sake, you are too fucking asshole-stupid to be able to read your own fucking link. An actual person need not be on the scene at all. Discharging a weapon into or at a building or vehicle that the shooter knows or ought to have known was occupied is all that's required. In a crowded Chicago neighborhood, ALL buildings and most vehicles meet that definition. HOW FUCKING STUPID CAN ONE PERSON BE?

You mean unsworn statements made at the scene by the fucking Uber-driver?

It's been dropping (at least based on poor survey data) as a percentage of households due to a large increase in the number of single-member and female-headed households, not due to lower gun ownership. Gun numbers, gun ownership, and gun-owning households all have increased by many millions.

There is NOTHING rational about being "armed to the teeth." Better alarmed than armed, but gun-nuts are not un-stupid enough to comprehend that.

Your "pesky details" are the crux of the matter. Fewer households of any kind wish to have guns any more. Guns are going the way of Marlboros and the insecure white-guy wannabes who used to smoke them.

Wrong. In an occupied burglary/intrusion (about 30% of the approximately 4 million burglaries/year) those armed are much less likely to be violently victimized, less likely to be injured, and much less likely to be seriously injured vs those unarmed. In fact, in such cases the intruder is more likely to be injured at about twice the rate of the residents. That flips and greatly increases for those unarmed.

All of which makes obvious sense to anyone with any sense. Which obviously excludes you.

Wrong. Many more households wish to have and do have guns. Many millions more. Many millions more new gun owners. Many millions more women who purchase and carry for defensive purposes. Many more minorities and in particular new minority women gun owners.

While you were busy trying to come up with yet more deceptive stats and anti-gun talking points, you lost the debate.

Except in this case they were.

To meet the elements of one section, but not the section in question here.

At least you've run away from your fucking fail of a notion that the charges were like "shooting a gun in the air on New Years' Eve." What a fart of a notion that was. You ran away from that one like the little pussy you are.

We'll find out when you next post.

No. The eyewitness statements made to the police by the potential victims of Everardo Custodio that lead to the eventual charges for which he pled guilty.

> WHAT A HOPELESS FUCKING ASSHOLE!

Coming from a shit eating fucknut like you, that's a compliment.

Statistically, there is NOTHING worse than trying to confront an armed intruder. He has the drop on you. You are meanwhile quaking and shaking. Your heart and brain are racing. Your hands are unsteady. The bad guy is meanwhile thinking just as a police officer would. If he sees you make a move that could be interpreted as an attempt to pull a weapon, he and any pals along with him will act in self defense. You will be shot, most likely multiple times, and left to die. Enjoy! If only you'd thought ahead had installed some sort of delaying device. Like a security system. That would have bought you the few extra minutes needed to escape or hide and call for police assistance. Your bad on that one. Make sure your family knows your blood type. There is a lot that modern medicine can do if only they can get to you in time.

Too fucking stupid. The number of gun-people has been rising more slowly than the number of people. We use rates to try to clarify such things. 33% of 315 million is more than 36% of 280 million. But the popularity of whatever was being measured would have been falling, not rising. See the power of eight-grade math?

a. It's not counting people. It's counting households.

b. The absolute numbers of guns, gun owners, new gun owners, gun-owning households, women gun owners, minority women gun owners, all have increased greatly.

b. You're an idiot who believes your own bullshit.

Wrong. Even in your bullshit stats, the only way that you can get to your obfuscated bullshit numbers is by including suicides. Which aren't applicable to the matter of an intrusion in the home.

Meanwhile, actual victimization data shows that those armed during an occupied burglary/home intrusion are much less likely to be violently victimized, less likely to be injured, much less likely to be seriously injured vs those unarmed, and more likely to injure an intruder than to be injured themselves.
