Why is it So HOT in November?
Posted by: Shorts Weather ()
Date: November 06, 2015 11:10AM

It use to be growing up that it was cold in November. Now it seems to be staying hot and almost in the 80's?

What's happening to make it so hot?

It is all Global wamring. We are all going to die and get swallowed up by the oceans.

We need to all go back to horse drawn carriages and plowing our fields with Ox if we want to survive.

Of course, I am kidding. It is because of La Nina or El Nino. Whichever is going on right now

We're in a transition from Fall to Winter. There will be fluctuations. Just a few weeks ago, we had temps in the mid to upper 40s and nights in the upper 30s. Trust me, 3 weeks from now you'll be bitching about how cold it is. This winter is going to be very cold and have plenty of snow.

Make sure to come back in a few months and post your question on why it's so cold and there's so much snow.

From the Farmer's Almanac (typically very accurate):

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the winter of 2015–2016 is looking like a repeat of last winter, at least in terms of temperatures with unseasonably cold conditions over the Atlantic Seaboard, eastern portions of the Great Lakes, and the lower peninsula of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, most of the Tennessee and Mississippi Valley, as well as much of the Gulf Coast.

New Englanders will once again experience a very frigid (shivery) winter (Déjà vu).

Over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States, the winter will be stormy with a good amount of snow. We are “red-flagging” the second week of January and the second week of February for possible heavy winter weather with a long, drawn out spell of stormy weather extending through much of the first half of March. So sharpen those skis and boards, because the eastern slopes look like the ideal places to carve some turns.

Typically it should be 40-50 this time of year.

Well so far the Farmers Almanac has been wrong this year. Maybe they haven't taken into to account global warming.

Living here since the early 60's I can assure you that Thanksgiving many years in the past was a 70 degree day. El Nino is this year and that usually gives us a warmer fall and a moist snowy winter. Typical cycle over time.

The NFL has paid NOAA and the Weather Channel to keep the temps up through Thanksgiving to increase revenues. The warmer temperatures gets more fans in the stands, and sells more beer and hotdogs, not to mention parking revenue.

What the fuck does that even mean?
Do you not understand how facts and data work?
The weather in a month has nothing to do with past predictions in the Almanac vs. what actually happens.

You said the Farmer's Almanac is 'typically very accurate'.
Can you give proof with facts and data to prove this?

Al Gore has sounded the alarm for years. And now NASA. And almost all scientists AND professors agree except for a handful that either (1) stupid (2) crave attention, or (3) paid by the oil companies or (4) all three.

This warming like we see WITH OUR VERY OWN EYES TODSY makes many in the know cry. But so many don't care. You will care soon enough when not only the bees die off but flowers, plants, some animals (at first). Then it will be too late. There will be no way to turn or hide. We cannot live underground like the people in Benaeath the Planet of the Apes! That, my friends, is a FALLICY!

In closing, get your head out of an ass.

No, it is you that is juvenating. Not only are you NOT LISTENING. You are NOT FEELING what is happening all around us. We are becoming hotter and hotter each year. It is FACT. It doesn't take much heating before Northern VA is the new Ecuador. We will all be clammering for the higher portions of Canada. You'll see soon enough and then you will be sorry.

Not sure if you are trolling or not? But, I personally have common sense and can see the science that climate change is real.

I wouldn't waste your time on the trolls here. They'll die of heart attack/poor health/dim-witted progeny that gets ahold of their gun and shoots them accidentally. One or two may even kill themselves with their amounts of unhappiness/fear/anger.

Lost cause, and they only get satisfaction from your anger.

Of course, you can mention the abberation pockets where there has been ample snowfall (Buffalo last year). But this is the exception by far. The entire country is warming up. No doubt about it. The science has been settled. Public opinion is almost entirely settled. It is fact. Not hypothesis. Not even theory. Fact. Like gravity. Case closed. The problem now is to change our behavior radically and flood the green industry with much needed funding to save whatever we can.

I believe the wealthly oil industry should be overtaken by the government. it can happen in times of war. Clearly, this would be for the public good. Moneys from these greedy giants can be used to transform our country and others into a universally green way of living. This is key. Most countries will follow us soon after. China will be the hold-out...for now....but I believe they are headed for a revolution and may be democratic before we know it.

Thank you.

Why is it that we have not become a country completely devoid of fossil fuels by now is beyond me. Other than to say, our politicians say one thing but don't follow through when the rubber hits the road. Our president stopped the pipeline from Canada today saying it would not help the cost of oil or make us more independent. He reinforced the ways we are becoming successful in dependence with wind, solar, etc. other forms that don't cause damage to our marred but beautful planet.

Enough with the "Moon" shot already! He's with us but is limited in what he can do. One thing, he and Ryan can help institute massive reeducation on global warming in our school system. Our children need to know the truth. They need to be hardened before things really get out of hand if the Green tsunama weakens or, God forbid, falls apart.

So does this mean you will or will not be wearing flip flops outside this Dec and Jan?

An actual weather prediction (not Farmer's Almanac):

Region 7) This is the zone that you’re going to want to be under if you prefer a variety of wintry weather, however there are some uncertainties that I’ll need to explain. During the majority of most moderate to strong El Niños, the southern jet stream (the sub-tropical jet) becomes much more active and transports more moisture into Texas and eastward into the Southeast/along parts of the East Coast. The big wildcard usually becomes how much cold, Arctic air will be available.

With that said, some of the most remarkable winter events in this zone have occurred when the temperatures overall for the entire winter were just marginal. I’m really leaning towards this being a colder than average winter across much of this zone with those chances increasing the farther east one is. El Niños usually bring about cooler than average conditions across this area during the winter because of more precipitation and clouds, but I do believe some major intrusions of Arctic air could push into this area, especially later in the winter. I will further expound upon my reasoning next Sunday, but the overview discussion at the beginning of this article give you a basic idea of my reasoning.

The ice storm threat will be greater for the southern regions in this zone including places like Atlanta and Birmingham, and almost all of these areas have a decent shot at getting above average snowfall. In fact, some locations in this zone (not all) could end up with well above average snowfall. As always, not everyone in this zone will get the snow they want, but the chances are once again higher than average for a more active winter.

Actually not. The US has not warmed at all for ~20 years. Niether have most other land regions for that matter. What rise is reported in the average is due to increases in only a few locations. The only way that you get to what rather trivial overall warming which has happened is if you include ocean surface temps which is based on few samples and fairly poor historical data for comparison. Those are the facts. Your babbling is evangelism, not science.

I wish these concerns could preempt the stupid Republican debate there having tonight. I wish Al Gore, myself, someone in the know could speak to the entire nation on the topic for 90 minutes. It would be a start. The way things are going, Black Lives Matter will beat us to the punch. All our lives are going to be fried soon if we don't act NOW. Not in the morning. Not yesterday afternoon. RIGHT NOW. Use candles or, better yet, simple daylight for your reading. Ride bikes to work (safety first). Buy solar panels for you home. Lots of them. Invest in a hopeful future...that is one where we stop the warming.

As for my self, I can give my energy, desire to help, and courage to reach out and change hearts AND minds in the street level and on places like FairfauxUnderground. Many Northern Virginians won't admit reading it (like many national hotshots won't admit reading Drudge), but they ARE reading.

How important is your childs future? How about the children in your neighborhood? Or the world? How much are they worth to you? That will helpyou decide how much to give.

You are a very blessed and lucky person to have so much money. Make it work to help us destroy global warming.

You are onto something. It has been spectacularly warm for November this year. How much more evidence does one need that we are headed for climate death.

I recognize the science behind Climate Change. But a warm November is hardly evidence of 'climate death'.
