Someone soled items from my car. I filed a police report but I might off click on the wrong box? what happens now? Will I have to go to jail for filing a fake police report or will they know what i meant and canncel the report. I click on Larcney/Theft fro Motor Vehicle but I think I should of click on the other one "Larceny/Theft under $5000" should i call them up and tell them?


Larceny/Theft from Motor Vehicle or Parts Theft of property from the inside of a vehicle including motor vehicle parts.
This report should also be used if you are the victim of a theft from a vehicle that belongs to another person where damage was also done to that person vehicle. You will enter both victims, the property taken as well as the vehicle damaged.

Stolen property from inside your vehicle or an actual vehicle part: stereo, gps, tires, tools, etc. Does not include theft of license plates.
Larceny/Theft under $5000 Theft from the person of another of money, goods, or other thing of value of less than $5,000.
Theft of wallet, purse, cell phones, jewlery, etc with NO suspect information. Does not include property that is known to be lost.

Sounds like a classic case of insurance fraud to me. You were nervous when you completed the form. Sure sign of guilt. They investigate this kind of shit quite aggressively. You better fess up Amigo. Tell the truth now and you might only get 3-5.

Just call the county clerk and she'll correct the report. Filing a false report mean you intentionally tried to waste police time for devious purpose.

You have a simple mistake on a report. Happens all the time. Just call and correct the error.

I think it's obvious that this guys first language is not English. It's almost kind of charming that he thinks that checking the wrong box will result in something awful. And it actually might in his country of origin.
