Suggested Places for FFX County Police to Enforce\Ticket Bicyclist Who Break the Law

Here's a good place for FFX county to start ticketing - These guy NEVER stop to any traffic signs or signals. May I suggest hiding\sitting at any traffic light or stop sign along the route. You'll score lots of tickets.

Maybe the stopsign at Glade and Soapstone - Then ticket the bicyclists in the Glade Pool parking lot.

Rules of Biking -

Bicyclists must obey all traffic signs, signals, lights, and markings.
Reference: §46.2-830 ^TOPICS

Bicyclists must ride with the flow of traffic on the right side of the highway.

Bicyclists operating a bicycle on a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place under conditions then existing shall ride as close as safely practicable to the right curb or edge of roadway. Exceptions to this are when bicyclists are overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, preparing for a left turn, avoiding unsafe conditions, avoiding riding in a lane that turns or diverges to the right, riding on a one way street where bicyclists may ride as near the left-hand curb or edge of roadway, or when the lane width is too narrow to share with a motor vehicle. Additionally, bicycles are not excluded from riding on the highway shoulder.

Bicyclists must not ride between two lanes of traffic moving in the same direction unless one lane is a separate or mandatory turn lane.

Bicyclists cannot ride more than two or more abreast on highways. When riding two abreast, bicyclists cannot impede the movement of traffic, need to move into single file when being overtaken from the rear. On a laned roadway, bicyclists shall ride in a single lane.

Bicyclists are not permitted to ride on interstate and certain controlled access highways, unless the operation is limited to bicycle or pedestrian facilities that are barrier separated from the roadway and automobile traffic. The restricted sections of the highways are marked with conspicuous signs.

Bicycles may be ridden on sidewalks unless prohibited by local ordinance or traffic control devices. While on sidewalks and shared use paths, bicyclists must always yield the right of way to pedestrians and give an audible signal before passing a pedestrian.

Bicyclists pulling onto a sidewalk or highway from a driveway must yield the right of way to pedestrians or vehicles already on the sidewalk or highway.

How about cars obey all laws? No need to single out cyclists. Far more drivers violate traffic laws everyday than cyclists. Ever see a car come to a complete stop at a stop sign? Me neither.

And virtually every driver is texting, facebooking, or checking their email. Never seen one ever get pulled over.

Just eliminate libs. They bitch and complain about everything. Get rid of libs and let cyclists be free to live and love life!

Yes, I do see cars stopping at stop signs all the time. I rarely, almost never, see a bicyclist pay attention to street signs.

Also I see cars getting tickets for the offensive; never see a bicyclist getting a ticket for the offenses.

I have to laugh - we have drunk drivers murdering people at bus stops (Old Keene Mill last week)/distracted drivers murdering people in the road in Reston (last week) and Douchenozzels want cyclist enforcement. Get a life idiot.

Any place along Rt 123 would be fine to enforce. From Lorton, past Burke Lake, the cyclists on the multi use trail, pretty much do whatever they want.

Although darwinism has helped in the past at some intersections where cyclists have wrongfully pulled out in front of vehicles, or struck the side of them, they should be stopping for the intersections, not blasting through with little to no regard.

Ox Rd and Lee Chapel is a classic intersection where cyclists ignore the lit cross signal. Same with Silverbrook Rd, and any of the side roads from neighborhoods. And, and, and... Little to no regard.

Question:
It would be interesting to see if the FCPD has actually ticked for cyclist offenses, and if they held up in court. Anyone with feedback or results?

Any where the W&O trail crosses a road. Bicyclist routinely run the stop signs on that trail.

Herndon police run stings every now and then to ticket bicyclist who run the pathway stop signs in Herndon.
