The things that would matter are Azimi's experience and his ability to fix things. Has he been a Principal before (and if so, where)? Is he part of the solution or part of the problem in improving Madison? The 30 percent turnover of teachers figure (cited above), if true, is a damning statement of how the Administration has run JMHS. Having put three children through Madison in the past six years, I have personally witnessed incredibly under-performing teachers, who should have been fired, but who continued to teach and be tolerated by the Administration, and, entire departments (this is you English Department) that should be flushed out for sub-standard performance and interest in teaching. I see from the JMHS Home Page that Mr. Azimi is the administrative oversight of the English Department and World Languages. He has his work cut out for him. While the Spanish and French departments are strong, Latin is pathetic and German has disappeared from the curriculum. In an increasingly shrinking world, more attention, not less, should be paid to World Languages and attracting and retaining strong teachers. I don't know where Mr. Azimi stands on this or how much influence he has had in helping to fix the problems. Finally, in addressing the "he's well liked" argument, popularity with the faculty cuts both ways and really is not a convincing endorsement without facts that show the impact Mr. Azimi has had on making Madison an even better college-preparatory high school. What has he done?
