Thank you for posting (fairfaxUndergrounders hate what u want).......it is utter disbelief to see that scenario. It goes to show, POLICE, (and i know a bunch, so im not hating on them, they are all just normal people) overtake their authoriT-Y ... Im sure theres more to the story..But how much? a ambulance obviously enroute to the hospital! follow them then handle it. Disgraceful of the LAW... Life is more important than a most likely traffic offense.

I've seen a Cop actually arrest a Firefighter on scene before as well, although I have forgotten where the actual location was (It was on National News). At the scene of an injured party, the EMT/Firefighters ALWAYS have authority over the incident.

BTW, the firefighter went to court in the aforementioned case, and he managed to win $18,000 from the Officer (A Personal Suit), and the Cop was removed to Desk Duty as well. 18g's can be 6 months of pay for an Officer, and even more so when considering actual Net Income.

That was on a car accident scene. The captain of the fire truck parked next to the accident to block traffic. The police officer told him to move it, because traffic was blocked. After refusing several times, the police officer arrested that captain.

I feel bad for cops. When they make bad decisions they get the spot light x100. I feel worse for the firefighter/EMT who if they made a mistake, someone dies.

There is a minor update to this story. Apparently the cop was upset because the ambulance wouldn't pull over to let him pass. Turns out, there's no law which indicates when two emergency vehicles are interfering with each other, which has the right of way over the other.

But there is a law about delaying a paramedic:

"Every person who willfully delays...an emergency medical technician...in the performance of...care and treatment...is guilty of a misdemeanor"

Apparently there's no exemption for police.

Oh, and they won't release the dash cam video because it's part of an ongoing investigation.
