if you are stopped by the FCPD and they want to search your car, can you request that the state police attend.

I know if they order you out of the car you have to get out but if they want to search you can refuse, then request the presence of the state police

First of all, the FCPD are about the most reluctant police on earth when it comes to searches. They've had numerous occasions where they could have tried that on me and did not, where other departments have.

2nd, you should always refuse all searches and ask for a warrant. If they have that or PC to search the car, that's all they need. No other department needs be present and i don't believe you can request it.

cool, so without proable cause they would have to go get a warrent. thats cool, but im sure if you believe they are harrassing you or planitng evidence you can request the state police, which apparetly scares them into being professional

no, a warrant is a warrant. The courts are the avenue for relief if you believe your rights have been violated; if false evidence was obtained, your lawyer makes a motion and an argument to have it excluded from consideration at trial. There is no request for other departmental prescence, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and try it sometime and report back to us.

what scares the police into being professional are two things:

1. Actual professionalism
2. Internal Affairs

Not to mention, the state police don't have some magic authority over the local police. Them being on site would mean exactly dick in this instance.

Can police search any way? Yes, but a good lawyer maybe able to get the search thrown out. If you give your consent to search then whatever police find is fair game in court.

i think its been pointed out on numerous occasions here that staties stick to the highways for the most part in NoVA, all the major jurisdictons around here have their own force, there is no way they would "outrank" or over rule the local forces. only in south va and rural va where there are less major departments do staties take on a more general police role rather than traffic enforcement like up here

I can think of one instance where you would request a state trooper.

I used to work for the state and drove state-owned cars. They all had a sticker on the dashboard that said "In Case of Accident Call State Police".

State Police must investigate all accidents involving state-owned vehicles. The local fuzz didn't seem to mind.

I had a Fairfax city cop plant a little bud of weed in my car back in 1987.

Always refuse a search, and then ask the pig if your free to go. If he says No, then he has a short time limit to hold you. there have been recent court rulings on this issue. Google them. The courts also have ruled that the pigs can pull you over if someone drops a dime about your driving. In the past they couldn't.

First thing you when pulled over before receiving any instructions from the officer is immediately jump out of your car and approach the police in an angry and aggressive manner yelling obscenities at him and telling him you are gging to kill his family.

Then when the officer jumps out of his car with is weapon drawn and pointing at him smack him in the face and spit on him.

Then while he has you face down on the shoulder of the road with his knee in your back fucking your ass with his night stick you should whimper like a bitch and call him daddy. Come on it's really not that complicated, doing this will give the law abiding citizens FFC something to write about here.

Unless you are he one who called them, it is not likely to be in your interests ever to talk to a police officer at all. If you are caught in a traffic stop, pull over right away, turn off the car, set the parking brake, turn on the inside lights, and put your hands on top of the steering wheel. Be sure car windows are closed, but leave the driver's side window open just far enough to pass the usual documents back and forth.

I have yet to see a FCPD roaming around Burke waiting to pull people. How many here really have a beef with the FCPD. There is virtually NO crime here!


Used to live off Rt.1 near the Huntington Metro.

Cops were always around there, and weekly crime reports from there were as boring as they could be. You want crime, check out the PGPD blotter reports. Fairfax county is paradise compared to that.

If you're getting pulled over either, they are really trying to give a ticket (for county revenue) or fishing.
