How come so few kids play outside in nice weather here in Fairfax?

I forced my kids to play outside on nice days. They are in college now and claim I fucked them up mentally by making them play outside and set limits on media use. Now I see couples with young kids in my neighborhood that never encourage their kids to do anything outside unless they are at the beach or a theme park. Why?

Free Range parenting is outlawed in the US now in case you have not been in touch.

Kids need to stay inside or only visit friends that have had background checks and full health screening.

Also newborns these days require special laundry detergents, bedding and hydroponic organic food that is grown in sterile warehouses.

You live in the wrong neighborhood. Every day I have screaming brats running all over the place in mine.

LOL, I live on a cul-de-sac in Burke Centre, its crawling with tons of screaming kids anyday it isnt raining or cold as hell. The whole notion of "kids dont go outside anymore" is wrong, drive into a cul-de-sac in Burke anyday after 4, its crawling with kids, heck kids even play out on Coffer Woods Road.

Asian tiger mosquitoes. Going outside during the daytime isn't as much fun any more. Only used to have to deal with clouds of gnats.

Because they weren't born in 1070.

Because their parents don't go outside either.

I live in a sac. There are other children, but none are outside as often as they should be, or as much as you'd think they'd want to be. There's a toddler that never sees the light of day. We counted the days until spring and summer came and we could get our kids outside as much as possible. I think this one gets some fresh air from the door to the car. I don't think her feet or butt have ever touched ground as she's always being carried.

Most of the parents work in corporate seas of mediocrity and da not see daylight all day long as it is. They get home and Hey want to stare at more screens and lay on the couch after a "hard day" at work. I really get a kick out of the people who "aren't the outdoorsy type". What the hell ever happened to you to make you dislike being outside? How can you enjoy watching a screen more than getting outdoors?

Guess that's why the parents are fat fucks the who can't make it without their electronic toys, and children will grow up to be the same.

Great contribution to the world.
