Agreed. I like the Carolina beaches for family trips but I enjoy Virginia beach for the bars and shops plus the fireworks and music. The north end is for white folks but most of the nogs you meet there are nice and they know their place. Yes there are some ghetto nogs around but they dont really bother anyone unless you are there that one nog festival weekend.

O.C is a much larger beach area 10 miles long in Maryland alone, but on a narrow island and it gets packed, places to eat can be jammed. Va Beach is not as large and you can get out of the beach area to eat without any problem. Va Beach is also a lot warmer water then OC. I would say at least 5 degrees warmer
and a easy beach to get out of the surf . I like both but go to VAB because it ahs camp ground cheap that you can get into easy and they have shuttle busses to the beach. Plus there a free boat ramp 1 mile away. OC s boardwalk also has loads of joints to get something to eat or drink Va Beach has boardwalk restaurants instead of joints and dives. But the dives can be fun in OC.
Myrtle is too far away and Nags head is 40 miles of ultra expensive houses plus too far and eat places are crowded. I pass on both.

They each have their own unique charms, but I like Myrtle Beach. But the drive is a little long. So Virginia Beach.

Myrtle Beach is a non starter for me, went there once and was not impressed.
My family has been going to OC for the past 45 years. OC has changed but still is far better than Myrtle as far a I am concerned.
VA Beach, only been there once, traffic down 95 and 64 SUX. It is not worth the drive in any way shape or form.
Nags Head, have not been in 15+ years, was nice and quiet, almost too quiet.
If you know where to stay in OC it is not bad. Dewey and Rehoboth are nice, you can head down to OC if you want, but again traffic can be a bear if you pick the wrong time.
I vote OC for the best distance and options overall.

VA Beach is a better beach, less kids and a lot fewer drunk imbeciles, by far, than OC. It's a better drive, too. I-95 to I-64 which actually terminates just a few blocks from the beach; you're literally driving an interstate highway right to the water.
Nightlife in both places can be sporty. Me and my wife are usually back in the hotel before midnight. Never had a problem with anybody in 19 years.

What do you want to do? Fishing Sucks in Myrtle (Too Many Sharks), You can spend Money at Ripleys, and other attractions. Virginia Beach Surf Sucks, but you have the NIghtlife, Ocean city has the Attractions in Daytime, Water drops off too Quick so swimming stinks and fishing is done in the Bays, Assatueage and Chincoteague are more for Antuques or ponies or nature, unless your have a boat. NJ Beaches are more Casinos for Gambling. If you have kids, Girls then I would say Myrtle, Boys Ocean City, A Boat Virginia (Bayside and Oceanside) all the way to Ocean City MD to include Deleware Bay. If your looking Condo, go to Carribean and spend the extra Money. (I personally dont like the Outer Banks) but anyone I know who does, owns a house there.

I hate VA Beach. TOO many people. I would head to Sandbridge to the south.
Classic beach town corny? The Heart of Ocean City. Me I would head north for some privacy but come down at night for the corny.
Myrtle is a lot like VA, I would do North Myrtle. Or the Brunswick Island past there.
My favorite is South Nags head. Not far from classic, corny, etc. But only 2-3 rows of homes. Not crowded during the daytime. Little traffic. Minutes from main Nags Head. Right below the 64 bridge to Roanoke Island.
I have vacationed from Montauk to Charleston on the east coast.

Gotta go OC. Us living in and around Va beach go there. Va Beach is at the dead end of the interstate. Nothing to do except bar hop, unless that is your thing. High rises on the beach, sun sets at 3:00 PM due to the shadows.
OC, public transit is nice, some amusement parks and decent clubs. Got a couple micro breweries, plus you can ride up to Rehobeth.

mid OC has that huge club which have never heard anyone say is not worth visiting
