I think this is absurd. I heard from a friend that the grocery store at Ft. Belvoir was tax free so I decided to do some grocery shopping. I am a stay at home mother of 4 so groceries are a big part of the budget. I was disgusted to learn that this grocery store is for military only. I pay the same taxes to fund that grocery store I should be entitled to shop there just as much as anyone else. I had nearly 2 shopping carts worth of food when the cashier asked for my military ID. I told her that I am a mother of 4 and pay taxes to fund this store so I have just as much of a right to shop here as anyone else. Then I was asked to leave since I wasn't "allowed," to shop there. THis is unjust! I can't believe a place like this operates in Fairfax County!

Say what you want about the military. My brother in law dropped out of college and was forced to join the military by his parents. Because he had some college, he became an officer. Served 30 years and retired two years ago when he turned 50. Receives 100% of his military pension and now works for a beltway bandit. He is pulling in over $250k per year and recently purchased a second vacation home! He still gets military benefits including the healthcare and the PX, commissary, or whatever the fuck it is called now. So yeah, the military sucks, he was able to live all over the world, meet the love of his life, get a in state college tuition at any college or univeristy across the country for his two kids, and his pension is guaranteed for himself and his wife (if he goes first) until they die. Pretty bad deal if you ask me!

He did but it is socialism. No Corporations offer that to normal employees. Healthcare for life, good retirement - they dont exist in capitalism for most. All humans deserve these things if they work hard their entire lives. In the US this is only for military and politicians.

Not at all true. The majority of the people I know in the service are not violent criminals prone to assault. They would not attack someone because of insults. There are quite a few smart people in the military, but you do have a ton of dumbass grunts who can't add 2 + 2.

I personally know a few military members who would act like straight up niggers if I were to tell them what I though to their face. Like niggers, they couldn't hold a job in the real world. Too much freedom, they needed someone to be on top of their ass 24/7 like a adult kid camp. Or else they wouldn't show up to work, start drinking all day, get fired, get in fights and so on. Once they get out of the military most of the times they fail at the civilian life and have to join again. I know a E4 in the army and he has been in for almost 10 years, not the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot.

Concessions on the national mall downtown run by GSI on federal property collect DC taxes, what is your point?

Civilian federal employees working on base shop at the commissary all the time. It's not hard to add sales tax onto a register that is already set up to do so.

You have to show an ID at checkout in order to purchase goods. An ID that shows that you are eligible for commissary benefits. It is more than adding tax. Commissaries sell at the bare minimum above wholesale that is needed to fund the commissaries and provide for Morale, Welfare, and Recreational programs for the military community.
