A food truck thief strikes again in Alexandria

The Sate` Indonesian Food Truck was stolen from the front of an auto repair shop Saturday morning, Alexandria police said, marking the second time in less than three months that a food truck has been taken in the jurisdiction.
Police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal said the truck was reported stolen at 10:30 a.m. from the 600 block of South Van Dorn Street, where it was due to receive repairs. The truck was parked a block from it’s brick-and-mortar counterpart, Satay Sarinah.
In November, a food truck that peddled gourmet popcorn and was painted bright orange was stolen from Alexandria. The Popped! Republic truck was spotted in Prince George’s County by someone who had seen a tweet about the theft and was recovered within 24 hours of its disappearance.
“THIS is crazy,” read the tweet, “ but this truck is across the street.”
No one has been arrested in that case. Asked if police were exploring the possibility of a serial food truck thief, Nosal said it was too soon to know.
But she said she hopes Twitter can work its magic again. The truck, which is painted bright red with a giant rooster on the side, should not be too hard to spot.
