Fishing in FFX

Anyone know any hotspots to fish or had any luck thus far with fishing? I know of a couple ponds and creeks around but I'm wondering if there are any good bass ponds out there....

Like we'd give up our nice spots on a public forum if we had them.

stay away from fairfax and burke lake, the only you will catch their is tetanus. Go for Lake anna or the state parks. Iwas at lake anna a few weeks ago, got a blow-up boat and rowed right out there! magic fishing

Try the low lake in Reston by South Lake High school. Lake Audubon. Fish by the damn away from the Reston pool. You can also try South lakes shopping center lake Thoreau access area near Lakeside Inn, but not as good as the damn.

fairfax fishing is kinda lame, but you have options

lake anna for striped bass and large mouth. power plant lake = warm water = active fish

bull run river for bass and catfish. look for the deep holes and slow moving water. live bait is the preferred tactic. one option is to park in manassas on 28 where the bridge goes over the river. there is a trail that runs along the river straight to hemlock. nice hike, stop and fish as you go. have a car waiting at hemlock park

rent a boat at fountainhead. troll with a big split back rappalla across the openings to the creeks and coves. take the boat to where it turns into bull run and bottom fish for catfish

shennandoah river for all sorts of varities. wade in the river. big beetle spin is the preferred tactic for small mouth, crappy, cats, walleye (yup), blue gill and big sun fish

burke lake for crappy fishing (if you dont know intimately the habits of those fish, specific spots, and tactics you wont catch anything outside of a sun fish with a worm).

shad run on the upper potomac (fletchers boat house/chain bridge) until hopefully mid-late may). other big fish out there too

plenty of nice ponds in the area, but those are private property. unless you know someone, youre SOL there.
