Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Everyone in Fairfax - can you see me building a recycled home? I want to put a roof over my head and my studio! Check out my project to build a recycled home and art studio in Fairfax. Creating a documentary film about the project as well. Would you like a spot in my film? Is there anything you can donate?

Fairfax is pretty anal and has extremely stringent codes. I'd check out if its legal before putting too much effort in it. But if one way doesn't fly, another may
My undergrad portfolio I have online reflects some of my college work recently. I don't usually post all my work online. I spent time in the Navy and am completing my second degree. I am a well rounded person and look for support from people.

Heather, are you going to answer the questions or just insult the posters on here? You came here looking for support. Quit acting like an elitist snob.
Fairfax can be pretty cool. It's a melting pot for certain with many different types of people. I am certainly one who can see the good things all around me.

Why don't you read more national building code standards, zoning requirements, etc., come up with a real versus conceptual design that meets all as well as a hard, detailed cost estimate, and get back to us.

Your kick says your looking for donated land that is already developed.
I can only do what I set out to do and that is reach my goals. The codes in Fairfax are certainly tough. I don't think I'm building here anyway if that answers everyones question.
I like Fairfax and I like the people here. Nothing wrong with it. Everyone has different ideas and I think that people just might be enlightening me on the Fairfax ways.

Woah! Look at this entitled, elitist bitch coming g on here begging for money for a project that is already dead and criticizing the majority of homeowners. Well FUCK YOU! Your project is dead. You're a fucking idiot cunt that needs to stay in academia because you have no place in the real world.

Can't buy a lot for a trailer here for $40K.
But as a simple solution to your recycled home, just buy an old used Airstream all-aluminum trailer and recycle it when you're finished with it. Project done.
I certainly am interested in the National codes and zoning requirements. I'll come up with a real versus conceptual design that meets all of these as well as a hard, detailed cost estimate.
I like the idea, and the concept, I have however come to realize that most permits are just Taxes in disguise, having said that there is some faith in the NBC (probably not the correct acronym), NEC Those containers are built to last.
