Who's complaining? I never got frostbite as a child, and it was just as cold then as it is now. And I figure you'd be in the cold for 30-minutes tops - if that - in a warm coat, sweater, gloves and hat. You aint gonna get frostbite.

You're not climbing Everest. You're not Richard Byrd trying to achieve the North Pole. This is 30 minutes in temps a little colder than we're used to. Okay, it's breezy too, so maybe your fingertips will get a bit chilled. So that's why we shut down the school system for the day?

I have to take a half-day from work to stay with the kids, so my wife can get into work and put in her half day. That's how it affects me.

Take a look at the traffic and idiot drivers around here now compared to 30 years ago. Keeping kids home in these conditions improves traffic flow and it's safer for them than being out walking to school and crossing streets.

The decision to change from a two hour delayed opening to an all day closing for schools was made today because, as our bus drivers reported to work, it was evident that many of our buses would not start in this morning’s cold weather. We did not want students waiting in this cold for buses that may be running late because engines wouldn’t start. In case that was toward me, I know many buses won't start. I was arguing against making them walk instead just because that's how it used to be.

one problem i had with counter-suing the county was that the courts (and county) were frequently taking days off, making scheduling a real hastle

it's incredible how often these people are NOT at work. anyone else would be jailed for keeping their job while not working that often.
