Got to work at 6am and from my office in Tysons I have not seen a single plow truck on the road. Someone messed up and made a bad call typically anything over 2 inches their is hundreds of v-dot sub contractors plowing the roads and pre-treating. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure the low temp of last night and snow would create a icy traffic hell for motorist.

Governor McAuliffe made sure the roads from the courthouse to the jailhouse were cleared for Bob Mcdonald's.

I live in Loudoun and work in Fairfax. The roads are horrible! VDOT messed up bad on this one. I appreciate all of the hard work the plow drivers do, but they can't do anything if they're never called out to plow! What are we paying taxes for if we can't even get the roads plowed when we need them?

Here's our illustrious Governor this morning.
It was so fucking important to be out on the Dulles Access Road this morning to unveil a new "Welcome to Virginia" sign instead of ensuring the roads were clear and safe? I'm sure his presence made the drive that much smoother. No distractions or cars stopped on the side of the road.
He is getting blasted (and deservedly so) on Twitter.

I live in Fairfax, work in/very near Tysons. I got on 66 past GMU, no plows. I drove on 66, it wasn't stop and go, everyone drove at roughly 20-40 mph, no plows. I get off at Leesburg Pike heading toward my workplace, a single plow. Sitting in traffic. With its plow up and a full sand/salt mixture filled to the brim in the back end. "Sitting in traffic". Got to work an hour late, some of my co-workers had it worse coming from MD or DC, no plows over there either according to them.

WTF are you guys on about? There were snowplows all over 95 this morning. Almost every overpass I drove under (at 0500) had one under it waiting to go, and there were at least two salt trucks blowing salt all over the road (and my car). Maybe the problem was they were all on the interstate?

VDOT knew this was coming, the did a lot of pre-treating yesterday.
The problem is SOMEONE decided not to deploy the plows or if they did for only certain areas/roads.
VDOT/FCPS and maybe the forecasters screwed this one up bad.
Funny thing is Old Dominion in front of McAuliffe's was a mess. He should better as his is from McLean!!

VDOT is staffed by State of Virginia employees. Virginia State government is known far and wide for terrible pay and benefits. As such, all they are going to attract is bottom-of-the-barrel job applicants.
Believe me, nobody (with an ounce of brains) on here bitching about VDOT would actually work for VDOT.

Didn't venture out last night, but this afternoon VDOT had salted all the way down to the cul-de-sacs. And they claim 4,000 trucks out there.
