Are they counting the new in-school suspensions? They have new "in-school" suspension rooms this year. If those kinds of suspensions are not reported, then of course the rate is going down. This reduction does not mean that there are fewer infractions. It just means that the infractions are being dealt with through the new "in-school" suspension rooms.

Suspensions are one of the few things principals get dinged for in their evaluations, so of course they are going down. It just means the criminals are left in the classroom with my kids

^No. You are wrong. The "criminals" are in the new "in school suspension" rooms. There is no way the teachers would let the principals get away with leaving those kids in the rooms. It's like a ship. There would be a mutiny. Teachers are in the classrooms with those kids and they aren't getting paid enough to deal with criminals. The job of administration is to make sure the teachers can do their jobs.

I'm a teacher. We are not doormats. We cannot teach without an orderly, stable environment.
