Government buildings in NoVA?
Posted by: curious in centreville ()

I'm curious as to exactly how many federal government buildings/facilites there are in NoVA. I know of all the big ones: CIA in Langley, NRO in Chantilly, Pentagon in Arlington, NGA in Reston... but I know there are bunches of other ones too.

Anyone have a better idea? Back in school one of my friends moms "worked for the government" but her office was back in the business park off 28/westfields blvd near the old AT&T building. Still don't know what agency is there as the building is unmarked.

thanks!

...where are the Govt. buildings at??

Allow me to ask this. Do you really think the Govt. wants people to know where they are - advertising locations and such, may be harmful for Natl. security and safety in general. I am sure they have more reasons that that.

I can think of a dozen places off hand that are clearly related to Natl. securty and while not "marked," it is obvious "something" is going on inside the fence...

I can also think of two-doz. places that you would have NO IDEA were related to Govt. business - again, the Govt. has reasons for their cloack of security and the internet is not a good place to advertise.

The best way to know I suppose, would be to answer that ad that keeps running inthe Wash. Post for jobs relating to the Central Intel. Agency.
Once (if) hired, I am sure you will be given all the info you need ;-)

FBI has some stuff in tysons corner, there is a lot of stuff around and in fort belvior too, mainly contract but some GSA and whatnot. FBI training academy/labs and DEA training is at Quantico on the marine base. I think ATF does some training there too.

There's some type of State Dept. facility in Sterling, a Dept. of Interior MMS office in Herndon, and the USGS is in Reston. They are all over the place.

I used to live near Tysons in high school and There's a couple places in the Tysons area that are supposedly "walking trails" and are not only closed to the public(gated/chained off), if you actually go down them you'll be stopped by federal agents within a minute and be forced to turn around.

In addition, some of the houses near them are clearly not occupied, though they always have the lights on, tv etc to appear to be. Whenever I'd happen by and actually see a car, it was a blacked out SUV or something similar to that.

I always thought they were safehouses of some kind, pretty cool shit.

Westfields supposedly has a lot of buildings for government agencies and contractors. There was a building boom right after Iraq.

There's one in Herndon behind the Safeway.

There's the gated facility at the route 50 intersection for the Chantilly Costco. You can't see the buildings from the highway. All you can see is the checkpoints.

Or if you mean opposite side of 50 from Costco, that's Air and Space Museum Parkway but it just doesn't connect to the top side

Why would they target the secure sites with checkpoints, fences and lots of armed guards? Haji likes soft targets at this point.

Oh and heard of Google Erf? Lots of pics and addresses on there...

Not too concerned about the terrorists outside the government. More worried about the terrorists in Foggy Bottom, Langley, Ft. Benning, ..... Terrorists weren't too worried when they were gaining ground in Iraq and Syria. They were having a fun time camping it up with Halloween and Texas Chainsaw quality videos. Now that they're losing territory, they strike out at their patrons as that's been the MO for justifying intervention.
