Ed Gillespie Healthcare Plan- GillespieCare Not Getting Good Reviews

WASHINGTON — In early October, with his poll numbers stubbornly lagging his Democratic opponent’s, Ed Gillespie did something almost no other Republican candidate has done this campaign season. Mr. Gillespie — a former lobbyist, former chairman of the Republican National Committee and now Senate candidate in Virginia — unveiled a plan to replace the Affordable Care Act.

The proposal, which would use tax credits and a federally funded “high-risk pool” to cover the uninsured, opened him to criticism. It most likely would cover fewer people than President Obama’s health care law, while having fewer statutory protections and still requiring billions from the federal government.

Ed Gillespie had the courage to publish an alternative to Obamacare. It's a starting point for discussion.

Remember that the most hurtful parts of Obamacare have been deferred until after the election. Most people don't understand how much Obamacare will hurt them.

Gillespie's plan would keep insurance industry government payments but reduce the care they provide. Basic Republican corporate whore behavior. What do expect from a former Enron lobbyist?

If Gillespie wins and just fixes all the fraud associated with Obamacare I will be happier.

You edited it and still got it wrong? Someday maybe you will read more than just talking points, Gerrytard.

Do bothersome facts matter anymore?

Not really. This is an age when Americans were assured that the “Affordable Care Act” lowered our premiums. It cut deductibles. Obamacare allowed us to keep our doctors and health plans, and lowered the deficit. Those fantasies were both demonstrably untrue and did not matter, given the supposedly noble aims of health care reform.

Dems running in tight races who are defending their vote for Obamacare?

Dems running AWAY from Obamacare?

Yeah, that pretty much explains the need for real change.

Here is an oversimplified analysis that looks at some of the pros and cons of Gillespiecare.

Noting of course that he is not going to win election, but does have some good ideas that should be considered.

I lost my doctor and my premiums have gone up. So as you say, both promises were lies.

Will people just stop and look where you/we are today with the current administration and the people that are in office. Look at the changes that were to help us. I have not heard anything positive in a long time. We owe it to ourselves and our kids to change what is going on now. If he (Gillespie) does not do what he says vote him out next election. We can't have more of what is in there now.

I see an economy Obama saved, a budget he's nearly balanced on his owned and millions of people able to see a doctor, not hindered by pre - existing conditions and those whom have not gone bankrupt just by getting sick.

America is humming again thanks to Obama's foresight. I also see a pack of ungrateful racist rabid dogs barking away.

In the beginning I heard a lot of good with what Obama is doing for families. I hear the opposite now. People are hurting. We need change bot locally and nationally. Even the African American people are finding it hard now with all the illegal people coming here illegally and the jobs are not here, housing is going away and people are drained. If people were honest all they need to do is go to the schools and talk to the parents of kids to see how it really is. That area needs help and we need new people in office to try to get this area back the way it used to be.

A, It is at best unlikely that he will win at this point.
B. If he did win, he would not be empowered to "fix" PPACA.
C. The fraud charge fails to take cognizance of the fact that the law orders that coverage be effective immediately and thus during any interval required for the documentation and confiramtion of claims made on an application.

Goobers had their chances and lost. Even an extreme right-wing Supreme Court upheld the individual mandate. The assfuck Romney promised he would shit-can this terrible law. He got his ass crushed for his trouble. Non-goobers understand the awful directions that eight years of George W Bush had sent us in. They could read the ominous writing on the wall concerning the future of health care in this country. Republicans want to make things even worse. PPACA gives us a means to make things better. The fact that -- just like Social Security -- it will work to the advantage of Democrats at the polls for generations is just tough luck for you guys. You made your bed and will have to lie in it. You all are good at lying, after all.

Obamacare brings Democrats backlash, not benefits

By: Sarah Wheaton
October 29, 2014 07:37 PM EST

Most Americans don’t want to get rid of Obamacare. They just don’t share its fundamental goal of universal coverage anymore.

And not only did the political benefits that Democrats thought the 2010 law would eventually bring them not materialize, opposition has only grown, according to an analysis of multiple polls taken between 2010 and last month.

“There have been backlashes, but never like this,” said Robert Blendon, a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health and co-author of the analysis released Wednesday by the New England Journal of Medicine.

Ed Gillespie, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, on Friday rolled out his proposals for comprehensive health care reform to replace the Affordable Care Act — a plan that he said would reduce insurance premiums, enhance access to doctors and increase the number of people with private insurance by 6 million more than Obamacare will.
