traffic backed up on braddock in both directions trying to get a look at what's going on at the gas station in university mall. lots of cops, police tape, people standing around watching. cars still at pumps but blocked in. anyone w/ a scanner know what's going on?

Horrible accident involving a trash truck and a box truck knocked a few other cars into the gas station. It's going to take a while to clean that up. They shut down the entire lane on Braddock going east and won't allow anyone one 123 to turn on to Braddock east.

It was a recycling truck driver who had a heart attack and ran over the curb into a couple cars and apparently killed a pedestrian. Here are some more pics, check the university mall thread for more info

WUSA9 has a report stating that no one bought it. Serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Oh well.

The pain is going to get worse. If the driver did in fact have a heart attack and that is what caused all this shit, his liability insurance isnt going to pay......medical emergency denial.

Just went by the scene and let me tell you it stinks so bad I almost threw up. There is garbage from trash truck all over the place. Ewwwwww.

AAA is fucked.

Thanks for the FB link...the scanner is interesting, but I don't have the time to monitor it in the background and this provides a nice view into what is going on locally.

I drove by the scene around 10pm and they were just towing away the AAA truck. An incredible amount of damage all around...any idea how fast the truck was driving? It would take a lot of kinetic energy to see that type of outcome.

No one died on this accident, yes a couple people were hurt but fortunately everyone still alive and that was not a trash truck so the trash was minimum.

I had to make a stop in that station yesterday on the way home and asked what had happened. The mechanic who works on our cars there got hit while switching cars around after he finished on one. They said he was in the hospital in bad condition. He's a great mechanic and a nice guy. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

He is my mechanic also and heard he is still in a coma as of yesterday. Not good news.

John has kept my car going for years and besides being a great mechanic he's friendly and honest. Best wishes to him and his family but it doesn't sound good.

Concerning the accident on Braddock road in front of George mason on July 24 2014 at about 4:30 in the afternoon. To let you all of you idiots on here know there was no kids in handcuffs that truck came into the Sunoco gas station my dad was the one who got hit!!! He wasn't even in a car. he was working on the van that got hit he was trying to jumpstart it. The truck came in hit two cars hit the car my dad was working on and took out the gas pump. We're lucky it didn't explode. my dad was thrown under the car and pinned between the car and the road all of his ribs are fractured they almost had to amputate his right foot his right elbow was completely shattered he has three spinal cord injuries he had a fistula in his left eye he had a brain injury had a stroke had internal bleeding he will never walk again and he's almost died on me over 10 times because of this. I'm so glad all people care about is that they had to wait in traffic. It happened on July 24 2014 over a year ago and he still hasn't come home once!!! So if u think u know what happened think again. Get your facts fucking straight. What if that was your dad? How would u feel? For over 6 months he didn't know who I was or my mom. I'm only 15 about to be 16 and I have to see my dad in a hospital bed every day now. We have lived in the same house for over six years now and he doesn't believe that we live there when I show him pictures she doesn't recognize the house he can't remember. FYI the guy driving the triple A box truck did not have a heart attack there wasn't anything wrong with him!! So get your facts straight before you post on. If you didn't know what actually happened then don't act like you do!!!!

Young lady, nobody said anything disparaging about your dad. Everybody obviously felt really bad for him and many posted complimentary things about him. Why on gods green earth do you have your underpants in a twist because some people speculated about a heart attack being the cause in the hours following the crash?

Kourtney - Not your fault or your family's that you were put in this awful situation. Lots of people care about you, even here among the worst toads on the internet.

So how's the civil suit going? Did AAA Trash and Recycling willingly pick up all the medical costs or did your lawyer have to go after them? Must be hundreds of thousands of dollars by now.

I never said that anyone said anything bad about my dad. And for your information I was talking to the people who had posted on here the day this happened telling them what actually happened during the crash. So why don't you read all the comments before you go after me. Don't speculate things. Don't go after me when I didn't do anything wrong I'm just saying how it is and if you don't like that you can get off of here! So can u please leave me alone. I have more problems to deal with and someone saying that I have my under pants twisted on here. So while I go deal with real life problems you just continue bad mouthing people.
