The first legislative action a Governor takes sends a message. It's how we convey what's most important to us.
That’s why I signed an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in state government, shortly after taking my oath of office on my first day as Governor.
Just a few minutes ago, I stood alongside President Obama as he signed a similar executive order. It was an honor to be invited to participate in this important milestone.
I stand firmly convinced that all Virginians — and Americans — deserve to have equal opportunities, no matter whom they love. I applaud President Obama for his actions today that move us in that direction.
Donate $50.00 today to help me continue to fight to make Virginia a more equal place for everyone.
Thank you for helping me make Virginia a better place.
