Students and staff at Seton School in Manassas are mourning the loss of “beloved” Latin teacher Rick Terza, who was killed Wednesday in a crash on Williamson Boulevard at Stonehouse Road.
Police identified the driver as Sylvester Richard Terza Jr., 81, of Manassas Park. Seton officials posted on the school’s website that Terza’s 65-year-old wife was critically injured in the 1:11 p.m. wreck near Va. 234. She was flown by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she was in critical condition, according to a post on Seton’s website. Police said she is expected to survive.
The Terza’s 31-year-old daughter was also injured and was taken to Novant Prince William Medical Center, the website said.
The Tahoe driver, a 49-year-old Manassas woman, suffered minor injuries.
Police said Rick Terza, driving a 1996 Toyota Camry, was attempting to make a left onto Williamson Boulevard from Stonehouse Drive when he crossed paths with a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling west on Williamson.
No charges have been filed in the crash. Speed, alcohol and drug use were not factors, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
