I don't usually complain alot, but when I do, it's valid. Well, when I was at GWL last weekend with Hubby and the kids in Williamsburg and there were so many problems, I couldn't believe my eyes. Bedbugs, crappy food, a broken TV and above all the clientele there was so trashy.

Don't get me wrong there had nice families, but there was a bunch of rirf raff there; mostly white trash. I heard them using swear words, smoking on the premises and starting altercations. I almost had to prevent a fight between two mothers after one of the children pushed the other one down a slide.

I paid $700 a night for two days and ended up checking out on Saturday because I couldn't stand another night at that dump. I don't know why anybody would ever go to that overpriced dump for more than a day.

I should have gone to Massanutten.

GWL is for trashy people. Don't matter who you are, if you drop that much money for a 2 days stay at a waterpark that's crappy, you're trash in my book.

I think they meant $700 for two nights together. Definitly not worth it and it was gifted to me. You're better off staying at another hotel in Williamsburg and just going to Busch Gardens and/or Water Country USA, probably cheaper to do that too. The stories about bed bugs are true too. We bought them back with us.

Winter is the time to go. Its under $300/day (non-peak) and that includes admission for 4. So it works out to $80 per person per day - not bad really.

Yes there are lots of very fat white men women and children but that is true at Massanutten too. The food on site is average and very expensive. Ive always found the rooms to be average - not dirty.

We go Sun-Tues when school is in session as a reward to the kids. As such, most families there are either traveling or have good enough jobs that they can take time during the week non-holiday. It was better when newer and they have gotten behind on updating the place and keeping it in good repair.

So my tips are: Go in the winter Sun-Tues.; Drive 10 min and stock up on food/wine/beer from Trader Joes and order takeout. They serve beer at the water park - drink heavily. Its for the kids.

Ever hear of just going to a nice beach? The kids will have just as much fun. GWL is like eating packaged food instead of real homestyle cooking. It's not as healthy.

When someone starts with "I don't usually complain alot", it's a pretty good indicator that they actually do, but are just too unaware of themselves to know it.

And they can't spell because "alot" is "a lot". Maybe OP was one of the 40% of FCPS kindergarten kids needing ESL.

Parents who take their kids to Great Wolf Lodge also;

- have children named Kaiden/Jaden/Braylen and/or have a "junior"

- go to Disney annually

- have tattoos

- follow NASCAR

- have boys with long hair and/or mullets

Not really. I've known a bunch of upper-income families from Fairfax who've gone there. As these things go it and Busch Gardens are considered "upscale." The lower end mostly doesn't have that kind of cash to throw around. Now whether they act like po' white trash when they're there is another matter.

I will take White Trash to Angry Ghetto anyday!! Think a bit more about this! Sad but true.

We are checking out today. The waterpark was fun but smaller than I thought. The lifeguards are diligent. The bad things? The rooms were dirty and the beds hurt our back. Even the pack n play was so creaky that my toddler couldn't sleep well. Yesterday when our room wasn't serviced by 3pm, I called the front desk to ask when they end cleaning services. She answered, " do you require cleaning services everyday"? I was thinking, we are required to pay close to $300 and you are asking me this? My husband had to bring our dirty towels to the maid to get fresh ones. This morning, at 7am, the fire alarm rang....boy, that did it. Supposedly, a water pipe burst and caused the false alarm. We are so tired and my toddler is soooo cranky now. I wish I could get my money back or get a giftcard..this trip wasn't worth it. Lastly, the food at the buffet was like cafeteria food. I lost my appetite from this whole trip.

Wow? People making the comparison to Disney is ridiculous. Disney is better and cheaper. Spent less than 5 hours sleeping next to block of rooms designated to several cheer teams. Noisy obnoxious and rude and that was just the teenagers. Staff seemed nonchalant and expected the complaints in my opinion. Couldn't even find a real manager. So they offered me $50.00 off my Room - well they had a senses of humor i guess. Save your money if you savor your sleep and sanity that mankind hasn't had very last drop of respect for others.The hampton inn and busch gardens is a better combination. I wont be coming back to WALLY WORLD even if the kids liked the oddly cheesey singing animatronics.

My family stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge one weekend and now we refer to it as the great wolf ripoff. Paper thin walls, dorm style beds, lots of blacks (about 75% when we were there) and the place was filthy. Yuck!

When we went last year the family across from us was moved due to bed bugs...

this is fairfax - there are closer grand poobah lodges

Then I realized that given the type of person staying there, we are all paying for their day-to-day living expenses: we get raped in taxes to subsidize their section 8 housing, EBT, WIC, daycare, free school breakfasts and lunches even during the Summer. We pay for everything that those pieces of trash have. Then they somehow can afford to stay at a place like GWL.

Fuck this system. Fuck you liberals.

But you have to look at the entire first sentence "I don't usually complain alot, but when I do, it's valid." What the OP is saying is that if she complains a lot, it is valid. All of her other whinings are not valid, just her yammering on and on.

I also love how she complains about everything there, then says "Don't get me wrong there had nice families, but..." Can't even get a half-assed attempt at a compliment right. I think she probably fits right in at the lodge.
