sullivan does not have a bunch of head coach experience!
he had the job at tc williams then lost it and then found a job as an assistant then got hired at marshall as head coach - then lost it.
so he's been head coach twice for a total of 4 or 5 seasons.
one of the main jobs of a head coach is to get the players on the team - that's first.
it's a bunch of bs to always say the kids at marshall have no talent.
it's the coaches issue just as much if not more than the kids.
marshall has the same general group of kids as the other neighborhood schools yet the coaches can't get them on the football team.
read some of the other threads about marshall & sullivan and lapthorn.
these are a couple guys who had the hc job in recent years and didn't have a clue on how to build a football program.
i mean exactly that - how to build a football program - not just try to win with the kids that are on the team (especially if you are marshall).

btw - a few years back during lapthorns last year, the year before sullivan started marshall had the athletes to have done really well.
they had a couple really fast kids that could also catch really well - yet only one of them played receiver AND lapthorn didn't ever let them pass anyway.
they had a big new kid from NC as QB who was also really fast but lapthorn didn't let him pass and then started using him on defence and put in a small slow kid as qb.
these are just a couple things as to why marshall loses - the coaches don't have a clue who the kids are and don't know how to install a passing game.
