RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - An annual statewide effort is under way to refresh and maintain over 58,000 lane miles of pavement markings in Virginia.

The state Department of Transportation has begun the campaign to brighten white and yellow pavement markings on state-maintained roadways.

Officials say the effort keeps the pavement markings clearly visible to guide motorists in all weather conditions.

The department says motorists rely on pavement markings to define travel lane and roadway boundaries. Pavement markings also communicate information about upcoming traffic patterns, such as pedestrian crosswalks, lane assignments or a stop sign.

And they help the 3rd worlders have some clue of where to be in the lane. Otherwise, they are all over the place.

actually, due to massive gov theft, NVA is famous for not having signs on lights telling one if they are in a turn-only lane or not

infact you might get a ticket that way, maybe a car is parked on teh arrow you can't see and you go straight on a turn only
