Here's something that the FFXU brain trust can debate: if the US government (pres, sec'y of state, congress) based a war on fake evidence of WMDs in Iraq, why didn't they see it through to the logical end by planting fake WMDs in the desert? Cops plant evidence all the time. Wasn't there anyone in the government smart enough to do this? Or is it possible that our government actually relied on real, albeit flawed, evidence.
Here's what's not debatable: the war in Iraq was supported by a vast majority of politicians in both parties. If you debate that then you're barred from participating.

The Brits, French, and German intelligence thought there were WMD's too and now they've been found. Also, don't forget the overwhelming public support for the war(s) too.

That's why the administration falsely charged Iraq with non-compliance, forced the UNSCOM inspectors to pull out, and went ahead with the invasion. They can later claim ignorance on their own part of deception on the part of Saddam Hussein. He was effectively cleared in 1999 yet Clinton went ahead with a law declaring the Iraq regime change official policy. Saddam Hussein had no incentive to cheat on WMDs since he had already signed up several member nations of the UNSC to lucrative oil contracts. They were going to lobby to end the sanctions which were up for renewal in 2001.

I'm not sure I agree completely but at least you addressed the issue. Thanks for being an adult.
Something else which isn't debatable is that every major war of the 20th century that the U.S. entered was under a Democratic administration. This is just a reminder to uninformed liberals who like to say Republicans are war mongers. I am a FORMER Democrat myself.

You would need vast amounts to justify an invasion. Planting a missle somewhere wouldn't do. So it would have been impossible to fake and not be traceable.

presumably the government would have realized that. So I think this actually supports the argument that the government did believe there were WMDs in Iraq.
It would be sufficient. No analyst would say "Oh, Iraq probably just built one missile to see if it would work." Building even one missile additionally means that they have the ability to build more.

Answer the question. Does it concern you that people don't support the same ideology as you?

Calm down, Sparky. Don't get your panties in a bunch.
A single missile would not be sufficient. You have to understand you're not just appealing to dumb ass Fox News viewers here in the U.S.
The U.S. would make a fool of itself if it tried to fabricate WMD's. It would have to be rock solid evidence that would stand the test of scrutiny that international conspiracy allegations would bring. Internal as well.
It would also be grounds for a partisan congressional investigation and if revealed to be false trying to justify the initial false pretense for war would be criminal.
So, you Republicans are really talking out of your ass on very complex matters. I know you wish it could be the case but you can't bullshit your way out of everything.

Has anybody ever told you, you're one of the biggest partisan hacks on this board?

Didn't you forget the Gulf War?
Which of the four wars you listed did you not support? For the record, I only find the fourth one problematic. I even supported the Gulf War. By contrast, the Iraq War was a travesty.

All that's puzzling is how anyone could seriously believe the matter would need to be reopened. Bush's deliberate lies and deceptions are an established matter of record. At its core, the Invasion of Iraq was one of the most disgraceful chapters in US history. And given disgraces such as the Philippines, almost everywhere in Latin America, Iran, and Vietnam, it isn't like our history was all so spotless to start out with.

First of all, the swift military victories in Afghanistan and Iraq were a product of the military that Bill Clinton created. Second of all, Bush sent our troops into harm's way in Iraq without being properly equipped or prepared. As Rummy would eventually say, sometimes you have to fight with the army you've got. All the rush to invade was of course due to Hans Blix driving all over Iraq proving that the invasion simply wasn't necessary.

The way a bull in a china shop leaves anger to the shop-owner? You break it, you've bought it, dim-bulb, and Republicans, conservatives, right-wingres, or whatever else you want to call them have been doing nothing but breaking crap for freaking decades now.

No matter how you slice it, his posts are a breath of fresh air amidst the stench of the absolute crap that you low-voltage right-wingers put up.
