Governor sees green light for Bi-County Parkway
http://www.insidenova.com/news/loudoun/governor-sees-green-light-for-bi-county-parkway/article_1ee6b3d8-f848-54b8-8f0e-1102897f68eb.html

Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) said Wednesday that he expects the Bi-County Parkway to receive a high priority rating among transportation projects being considered in Northern Virginia.

“We have to open up Dulles airport,” McAuliffe said. “We will have a resolution relatively quickly.”

McAuliffe made the comment in response to a question from Washington Airports Task Force President Keith Merlin after speaking at a Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday.

The governor indicated the Bi-County Parkway, long proposed to connect Prince William and Loudoun counties, had just entered the priority review process mandated by the General Assembly for all new transportation projects. That review is designed to rank projects based on a matrix of factors that includes congestion mitigation, economic development, accessibility, safety and environmental quality.

McAuliffe pointed to stalled growth in Dulles Airport’s passenger counts as a key concern. While efforts are being made to add new flights—such as Air China’s direct connections to Beijing that began last week—increased cargo operations will be important to keep the airport growing, he said.

Bi-County Parkway advocates say the new road is needed to facilitate cargo transports. Critics say the project would be a misuse of road construction funds needed to free up other travel choke points in the region.

What's the latest plan? Last I heard, the parkway was west of the battlefield and they were rerouting 29 out of the battlefield to the north to hit the parkway up there.

Developers need that road so they can open up land and build luxury townhomes starting in the low $700s.

I am sure the battlefield will make a nice dumping ground for your day laborers.

If he really wanted to "open up Dulles airport," he'd talk with MD and extend the FFX parkway to the river to meet up with Seneca Rd/River Rd on the other side.

28 but +100, still. Not as if people from the western 'burbs have a choice of international airports.

The MoCo eco-nazis would never allow that to happen.

I don't understand this logic. By increasing the accessibility of the airport demand for airport services will increase? For something like air travel, the additional travel time to say National or BWI doesn't really matter. Price is major factor for a 'luxury' item. Even for short flights, shaving 15 minutes off the commute to the airport isn't going to increase demand. You are going to spend 30 minutes going through the security checkpoint anyway.

"McAuliffe had pledged his commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender priorities during the gubernatorial campaign last fall."

He made good on his promise by declaring June LGBT Month. If you drive here
you will come out of the closet too.

Don't be fooled. The Bi-County Parkway is name for Bisexuals per our fag Governor.

What sanctity? It's a massive choke point now and overrun with traffic. The bi-county parkway would be WEST of the Battlefield and reroute traffic between 66 to 50 to 7 completing bypassing Gum Spring and Sudley.

This would complete the drive on the PWC Parkway (234 Bypass) from 95 to 66, to 50, and to 7, and with eventual plans to connect into MD.

On another note, how is this thread related to Fairfax County?

Also, why do 234 and 29 have to close for this? Isn't it a bypass?
