Firefighters on Friday morning battled a two-alarm blaze that spread to four closely-spaced houses on Hollow Glen Court in Gainesville.
The fire broke out around 10 a.m., and crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the roof of one house. Prince William fire and rescue spokeswoman Kim Hylander said the original call came from a homeowner reporting his garage on fire.
The flames extended from the garage into the attic, and then spread to three other homes in the neighborhood off Heathcote Boulevard, according to the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company.

There were no injuries, Hylander said. Witnesses at the scene said firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from one of the burning homes.
Four families are displaced and the Red Cross was called in to assist them.
Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze. Black smoke could be seen for miles in western Prince William late Friday morning.
The houses in the neighborhood are single-family homes, spaced closely together. In 2010, an improperly discarded cigarette sparked a blaze in a similarly constructed neighborhood on Tilett Loop in Manassas, damaging eight homes.
