Whole bunch of COPS

Does anybody have a clue about what was going on last night around 23:30hrs on 123 right in front of the Lorton Valley (Giant) center. There were a rack of marked and unmarked cruisers plus VDOT trucks with their traffic arrow flashers going off in all directions. There seemed to be no struture as if something big had just happened and they wanted traffic deverted any where but there?

A U-Haul truck flipped over trying to evade the cops, had State and County guys on him. Cop friend of mine told me about it today.

Godzilla was kicking Monster Zero's ass. Cops were there to move traffic around the scuffle.

I was listening to it on the scanner...After they chased the guy for a while, the driver lost control of the vehicle, went airborn and landed on its side... The driver was ejected from the vehicle and they said he was DOA (they made a comment regarding "brain matter" from his head). They deverted traffic because the cop claimed the guy had thrown something out his window during the pursuit and they were trying to find it.
Kudos to the FCPD for stopping this guy before he ended up killing an innocent person.

Not to steal anybody's thunder, but it sounds like the guy running from the cops stopped himself by losing control of the truck.....

Well that would certainly be my first choice of a vehicle to out run cops in... an old beat up U-hual truck. Every time I rent a U-Hual I can barely keep it between the lines because the truck is so abused.

you dont know half of it.

about ten years ago i worked part time at a local feed/supply store who happened to rent uhauls. holy crap. you wouldnt' believe the shape we got these things back in. i had one truck that the steering wheel was turned 90 degrees to the right (hard right turn) when the wheels were straight!

sounds like a curb bite to me.

UHauls are great to live in when you're homeless. pay $19.99 a day for an all aluminum room with hardwood floors.

Had the driver actually killed an innocent person it would have been the fault of the police for chasing him. Maybe if they did a little police work they wouldnt have to chase U-Hauls down 123 where killing an innocent person is not out of the realm of possibility.

Don't know if he was DOA, but he apparently had a variety of ID's on him. Obviously a criminal and we're better off without him. If he's not dead, then he'll be a tax burden to the rest of us.

Can you really chase a Uhaul? I mean those things usually only have like 2 semi-working gears and they're lucky to do 50 mph without exploding.

I once drove a U-haul truck from Philly to NoVA. What a POS. I had to stop at every rest stop along the way and pour water into the radiator to keep it topped off so it wouldn't overheat. The steering wheel was so loose I thought I would wind up in a ditch.

The last time I rented a U-Haul my prepaid reservation didn't actually reserve me anything...I ended up getting a truck at 6pm instead of 7am. The truck I got was a manual (whatever...I took it) and the driver's door didn't open, so you had to get in from the passenger side.

That was many, many years go. I'm surprised U-haul is still in business. How does a company suck so bad and stay alive???

Looks like this guy had the same problem as I did: http://www.dontuseuhaul.com/

Uhaul is a franchise business, I think. Some of them are better than others.

First State initiated and terminated the pursuit. The driver of the UHAUL was driving erratically down 95 south. A State unit caught up to it right before Route 1. They took the 123 exit and started running red lights. They driver threw a bag out the window around Lorton. The driver tried to make a Uturn and ended up flipping over. He was dead on scene.

The point. He was driving erratically before any police were behind him.

He was still alive, not looking good tho, died about an hour later at the hospital. He had 6 ID's on him and yes, a bag of powder was tossed around Lorton Rd area.
