Fastran Buses On These Lower Use Weekday Fairfax Connector Bus Routes During This Summer

Passengers to See Blue and White Fastran Buses on Some Fairfax Connector Routes Beginning June 3

To support Fairfax County commuters impacted by the Metrorail platform reconstruction work on the Blue and Yellow line stations this summer, Fairfax Connector is offering enhanced service on express routes from the Springfield area to the Pentagon requiring deployment of extra buses to Fairfax Connector Routes 393 and 394.
To assist with Fairfax Connector service across the county during this time, the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) is partnering with Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) to deploy Fastran buses to cover select Fairfax Connector routes effective Monday, June 3, 2019, through September 2019. FCDOT values the assistance by NCS during this critical time, and appreciates the patience of Fairfax Connector passengers as we work to provide more service to commuters and travelers this summer.
3 Things to Know - What Should Fairfax Connector Passengers Expect on Impacted Routes
1. Look for a blue and white bus with “Fastran” marked on the front and sides with black letters. Beginning Monday, June 3, 2019, passengers traveling on the following Fairfax Connector routes should expect to see a white and blue Fastran bus (see picture, see URL/weblink above)
* Route 432 - This route operates from Old Courthouse Road in Vienna and serves the Spring Hill Metro Station, Old Courthouse Road, Creek Crossing Road and Beulah Road, weekday rush hour service.
* Route 927 - This route operates from Dulles Corner and serves Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride, Sunrise Valley Drive, Coppermine Road and McNair Farms, weekday rush hour service.
* Route 461 - This route operates from Flint Hill to the Vienna Metro Station, Nutley Street, James Madison High School, Park St. and Tapawingo Rd., weekday rush hour service.
* Route 466 - This route operates from the Vienna Metro Station, Chain Bridge Rd, James Madison High School, Blake Ln, Nutley St, and Oakton High School, weekday service.
2. There will be no destination signs on the buses; look for route information inside the bus when boarding. Fastran buses do not have route numbers and destinations listed outside of the buses. The Fastran buses will stop at each bus stop on affected routes to make sure passengers know to board. When boarding, please look for a sign inside the bus to verify your route.
3. Real-time estimated arrival time information for impacted routes won’t be available in BusTracker or by texting 41-411.
Fastran buses do not have the required technology to support providing passengers real-time estimated arrival information. Passengers will still be able to receive static schedule information via BusTracker and by texting 41-411, but should plan to arrive to their stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled arrival time of the next bus.
