STAFFORD, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Florida resident has been charged with 48 counts of sex crimes against minors while he was living in Stafford County, Va. in the 1990's.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, Thomas Francis Villacres, 53, of Rockledge, Florida was indicted by a Stafford County Grand Jury with 48 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 48 counts of indecent liberties with a minor while in a supervisory role and 15 counts of object penetration.
Authorities arrested Villacres Monday night in Florida. Authorities said Villacres is currently in jail in Florida under no bond and waiting to be extradited.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office said Villacres was doing a background check when authorities got information on his past. He was then investigated, authorities said.
The incidents happened in the 1990's over an eight year time span, the sheriff's office said. Four girls between the ages of six and ten were involved in the assaults. Authorities have not released any additional information regarding the victims.
Villacres was elected to the Stafford School Board from the Garrisonville District. He served from January 1998 to December 2005, according to a the spokesperson for Stafford School Board.
Villacres has been suspended from his job as an analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency on Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County Florida. Federal officials say they were conducting a routine review of his security clearance, when the allegations surfaced. The Stafford County Sheriff's Department says it was the victims, now in their 20's, who alerted the federal authorities of the alleged crimes.
Bill Kennedy, the Stafford Sheriff spokesman, knew Villacres and said he's "very disappointed and feels badly for the victims."
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is requesting that if any other individuals have had the type of contact with Thomas Villacres as described in this release to contact Detective Pat Tudor at 540-658-4450.

Why is this in the Fairfax forum? Stafford County doesn't even border Fairfax County. Florida, where he works and lives now, is clearly not in Fairfax County.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man accused of 111 counts of child molestation is free on bail Monday and is living with a relative in a gated community.
Hank Silverberg spoke with worried resident.
The fifty-three-year-old Thomas Villacrest is living in Aquia Harbor, in a gate community in Stafford County until his trial in October. He was school board chairman in 2005 and served eight years after he allegedly molested children in the county. During that time he worked with the boy scouts and his church.
His arrival in Aquia Harbor came after a judge decided he could stay confined to a relative's home until trial. The police chief says she will not discuss the case but did issue a statement on Facebook to local residents.
The statement advises residents that Villacrest is being electronically monitored and has been ordered to stay away from the commune's preschool and seven parks. It also urged parents to make sure their children travel in groups.
The Harbor is a small gated community of 10,000 people. WUSA9 could not get in, however talked to some residents who are concerned about this man living there until trial.
The charges against Villacrest, who lived in Florida when he was arrested came mostly from his own statements. While undergoing a background check for a job with the Defense Intelligence Agency he told investigators he had a lifelong sexual interest in children and had fondled 20 children numerous times over six years.
Police are still looking for additional victims.
