Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Does anybody else think it is really strange that Ryan McElveen would accept an invitation to be a prom date/escort/guest/whatever for a 17-year-old girl at Madison High?
A married member of the School Board saying "I have no reason not to accept"?
I would not be surprised if he wore his letterman jacket to the prom. Ryan McElveen is a serious weirdo. Can you imagine what he would do in a political office with more power? He needs to be voted off the school board.
I would be really pissed if I was his wife. This was a no-brainer. You are in a position of power and authority. Quit trying to be their friends. Prom one day, kick them out of school the next.
Well Ryan McElveen stands behind the statement that turf fields are a benefit to ALL county residents, but he refuses to explain this statement.
So yes, back to the turf controversy, which is also the library controversy. The school board continues to push for turf money even though they admit that the destruction of library books was a bad thing. For some reason, the board and Karen Garza are fixated on these turf fields.

He really is like a kid who doesn't know when his jokes aren't funny anymore.
I think this is probably the end of Ryan-Mania among the ranks of FCPS students, as he's now crossed seemlessly into the ranks of the legitimately creepy.
Don't you knuckle draggers have anything better to do? I'm enjoying watching the tea party go down the crapper, it's filled with nothing but whiners, judgmental haters, and faux moralists. As far as what Mr. McElveen does in his spare time goes, mind your own damned business. WTH?

I think this is probably the end of the road for voters, also.

What the fuck are you talking about? A school board member going to prom is far from something he's doing on his free time - especially this day in age. If he had any sense of professionalism or awareness, he'd avoid this like the plague.
They wouldn't let Elliot from Elliot in the Morning attend an FCPS prom after he got invited on air in 2004 but they'll let a school board member do it now? You're as whacked as he is.

No quite. He's got a (D) behind his name, so he's safe in this county. The turds always look for the (D), it stands for Drone.
And yes, I know that School Board elections are superficially non-partisan, but all you have to do is look at the endorsements (received and given) to see the candidate's leanings.
