The High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on Interstate 95 will be closed through Sunday from the D.C. line to Dumfries.

The HOV lanes will reopen northbound by 10 a.m. Sunday.

The closure is part of the 95 Express Lanes project and will allow crews to work on overhead signs, pull fiber optic lines for tolling equipment, mill and pave the new lanes and finish bridge work, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.

Commuters should expect similar HOV closures through the summer.

The toll lanes are about 75 percent complete and are expected to open in early 2015.
