6 to 8 inches of snow, Monday night to Tuesday afternoon
Posted by: Connie ()
Date: January 31, 2009 01:29PM

It's now 1:28PM on Saturday.

I want to go on record and make the following weather prediction:

6 to 8 inches of snow, Monday night to Tuesday afternoon

for northern and western parts of Fairfax County.

even though NOAA's new precipitation stats say rain then maybe a tenth of an inch of snow and then a 40% chance of snow. u should stick to the weather updates, they got the ice coverage right for this last storm i think its safe to go by their predictions haha

Why does everyone think there's going to be a blizzard on Monday/Tuesday?? No weather predicting agency has announced such a thing. Of course, it would be nice to have that much snow again, but I truly don't believe that's in our forecast.

AccuWeather is always very alarmist -- they're almost the tabloid press of weather forecasting. Looks like the storm is gonna stay too far off the coast to give us much more than rain/sleet and cold wind.

These guys have some pretty good coverage of local weather (including this storm): http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitalweathergang/

You need to use the DC snow accumulation converter once you hear the predicted snow totals.

1-3" Maybe some small rain sprinkles
3-8" Dusting on the grass
8-12' 2 Feet of snow, expected schools to be closed for weeks

Not to mention yesterday, it got up to 65! The ground's way too warm. Although, there's always that nice warm front before a real cold front comes in...

2 inches of snow on the ground and it's still coming down at a good rate. Hopefully classes will be cancelled tomorrow!

cville...let me take a guess at something. You are from one of the many families that is pushing for the start times to be pushed back. Why the hell are you not in bed and asleep if you have school tomorrow. You should not be posting at 2 fricking 30 in the morning if there is even a slight chance you will have school the next day.

HAHA wrong. You are now on record as being someone who shouldn't being going on record.

next time...don't fall for the local media hype. if you were a true meteorologist, or even just a weather hobbyist, you'd know not to make such a crazy weather call 5 days out.

I would MUCH rather live in Harrisonburg. It is so much nicer out here in the REAL Virginia. And I don't live in Harrisonburg (although I wish I did), I live in Fairfax. I just go to school here.
