Just another stupid Vienna resident trying to draw attention to their shitty community. Do something about the timing of the traffic lights on 123 and maybe you wont have angry bears in your town.

I wonder if that is north of the toll road even though it's Vienna. Appears to be a part of the sound barrier wall in the background.

Now, you do realize that what you're seeing is a screenshot taken from WTOP's website, and thus "clicking" just takes you to the screenshot itself on FFXU - it doesn't actually interact with the original site...

Black Bears aren't allowed in the Staples Center during a Clippers game.

According to the EXIF information in the photo on WTOP's site, that photo was taken on Saturday 4/26 at 1:14pm with an iPhone5, at coordinates 38° 56' 45.4300"N, 77° 17' 23.0400"W (the photographer apparently had location services turned on). Those coordinates correspond to the street address 9730 Days Farm Dr., Vienna, VA 22182 when entered into Google Maps. That location is just north of Dulles Toll Road, east of Difficult Run, and west of Beulah Rd. You can look up property records at http://icare.fairfaxcounty.gov/ to find out more about the property owner.

Some of the metadata could be incorrect, but most people don't bother to fabricate that kind of stuff.

Good thing it wasn't a photo of a crime in progress, car accident, etc. That could bite the photographer in the ass later on.

Lesson to all: If you share photos with WTOP or anyone else online, scrub the EXIF information first.

It's the season for bear sightings in Fairfax County
http://www.wtop.com/149/3612199/Its-the-season-for-bear-sightings-in-Fairfax-County

WASHINGTON -- After a black bear was spotted Saturday at a Vienna, Va. home, Fairfax County police are advising residents to take precautions to avoid attracting bears.

Police received the first seasonal report of a bear sighting at noon on Saturday, April 26 from a Vienna resident who spotted a bear in his backyard, according to the news release.

The resident's home is located behind the Dulles Toll Road, where a bear was also struck Saturday morning.

It is unknown whether the bear in the resident's backyard is the same one that was struck, police say.

During this time of the year, it is not uncommon to see a black bear in the area, according to Animal Control officers. Black bears are generally afraid of coming into contact with humans and are mainly looking for food, Animal Control officers say.

Although Animal Control won't take bears away from neighborhoods unless the bears are injured or threaten public safety, police advise residents to take the following measures to avoid attracting wildlife:

•Keep trash inside the house. Avoid storing trash outside the home or in the car.
•Take out the trash the morning of trash pickup instead of the night before.
•Don't leave bird feeders outside if a bear is sighted nearby.
•Consider installing electric fences around the yard to keep bears from coming in.

If you see an injured black bear or believe a black bear may pose a danger, call Fairfax County Animal Control at 703-691-2131.

Bear sightings reported in Fairfax County

Bear sightings reported in Fairfax County
Let them move on through, police say
http://www.fairfaxtimes.com/article/20140428/NEWS/140429351/1117/bear-sightings-reported-in-fairfax-county&template=fairfaxTimes

Bears are on the move through Fairfax County and should be left alone to do their thing, according to Fairfax County police.

Police said Monday that they received their first seasonal reports of bear sightings in Fairfax County over the weekend. Police said a bear was reportedly struck on the Dulles Toll Road sometime before noon on Saturday; then a Vienna resident soon reported a bear in his backyard in the 1600 block of Fremont Lane, located just behind the busy roadway. Police said they are not sure whether or not both sightings were of the same bear.

According to Animal Control Officers, it is not unusual to see black bears at this time of year and residents should not panic or feel alarmed when they see one. It is likely, they say, that the reported bear has already moved through the area.

Police say bears typically avoid humans, but in their search for food it is not uncommon to see one.

“Most often, bears will keep moving through an area once they fail in their attempts to find food. Unless the animal is sick or injured, or poses a threat to public safety, animal control officers do not take actions to attempt to remove bears from a neighborhood. Black bears have a natural fear of humans, and in most cases, would rather flee than encounter people,” said police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell.

Police offer the following precautions to keep bears and other wildlife away from your home:

• Do not store trash on porches, decks or in vehicles.

• If a bear is sighted in your neighborhood, remove birdfeeders.

• Take garbage to the curb on the morning of pickup, rather than the night before.

• Consider installing electric fencing around gardens, dumpsters and other potential wildlife sources Electric fencing is an inexpensive and efficient proven deterrent against bears.

Lol the last tip made me laugh... I don't think I would be able to 'make myself look big' and make loud noises while throwing rocks, my natural instinct would be just run for my life! Yes I guess I would get chased by the bear in that case...

I don't think these bears are "wandering" into Fairfax County. I beleive this is a cleverly disguised program to destroy the life as we know it in FFX County. These bears are smarter than the average bear and are organzied to the point that they only go into specific areas. This will require the county to devote critical resources by FCPD and other government agencies that could be used to fight crime and other sutff like that. Once the police, fire department, animal rescue league, FCPS, etc are focused on the bears, then chaos will reign allowing the terrorists and illegal aliens to take over.

Seriously, it is time we excercise our rights as Americans to use our weapons to thwart this brazen attack on our liberty!

I bet he didn't tell his home insurance company about this. His rates will skyrocket now that he has to have a rider for potential bear attacks on his property.
