It's unfortunate that their are people in society that do not understand the fact that police officers are no different than anyone else. Do they issue tickets? Yes, they also save lives, catch the robbers, and respond to calls when a burglar enters our family's homes at night. Most importnantly, they are mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. They have families, as for this fallen fairfax county detective, she responded to save a fellow officer life. The detetive was an active member of her church and is a mother of a 5 and 7 year old. Cops are human beings, despite having a thankless job, it's an honorable one, and they should be recognized for the good they provide to us citizens, not just for issuing tickets. My father was a police officer, the very same day he revived a 6 month old baby by CPR, he was shot and killed while handling a domestic violence call. Most people deal with cops that are rude and disrespectful, like many jobs out there, police depts have "bad apples" too. "Bad apples" that should not have a gun and badge, but most are honest, brave, and have loving families that would like to see them come home every night after a shift. I was old enough to understand my father's job, but I was also old enough to know that he could not make it home. As for this fairfax county detective's children, their ages can't comprehend that their mom is dead. I'm sure like many kids at that age are still asking their dad when is mom coming home. My little borther was wating by the foyer of our house the very next moring looking out the window waiting for my dad. I'll never forget that image. God bless police officer, we need them.

Mind splitting that into multiple paragraphs, as it should be, so it is readable?

Why do people feel the need ro cram everything into one paragraph?

I didn't know Vicky Armel but I sure hope her kids and husband are OK. They only have to deal with this horrifying memory the rest of their lives.

That fuckin crazed asshole ruined an entire family in the most selfish way possible. Fucking coward.

I agree with meeper as well. I felt so bad that police officer was killed just doing her job. And I also pray that the other police officer will recover. The job they do is not an easy one and I am so sorry for their families too. This was a tragedy and I hope it is never repeated.

If there werent so many idiot drivers in NOVA that think the road is a race track then maybe the cops would not have to focus on traffic enforcement as much. And Reston Peace is correct, Detectives DO NOT write tickets you fucktard...
