Here's what you do. This may or may not work with Comcast but I've done it with both DISH and DirecTV.

You call and complain about your bill getting so expensive and tell them to disconnect your service and ask where to send the receiver. You will be put on hold and another rep comes on, most likely in sales, and asks why you are leaving. You say "Youre too fucking expensive......Im switching to DISH (or DirecTV, whichever is the case). You will then start getting offers not to leave. I just did this in January. I hemmed and hawed until she got to door #3. Knock $50 off my monthly bill for 12 months (it was $94/month) and FREE all premium channels for 6 months.

Done deal.

why do you still subscribe to cable at all? you can get 90% of it for free on the internet. only thing that's harder is live sports, if that's important to you.

I have found picture quality and streaming rates are often lacking on the net.

COX overbills my aging parents who don't know better

they've replace the boxes they had like 10 so far. meaning they've been doing the same with a buncha gov workers who don't care as well. and 5 modems as well. i would never have upgraded that many times unless forced indirectly and underhandedly.

oh yes i remember now: bullova signed a monopoly contract with them at one time

(at this time they aren't)

they stole the battery out of the modem: no phone if power is off during emergency

----------------------------
so comcast and verizon. both also choices.

and choices are good when you talk about the kind of crap that goes on when people are, by some means, forced into purchase

i hear comcast is far more net peer friendly. less likely to be a signal blocker. more likely to allot customers to actually compete for web services.

obama COX from atlanta. don't buy it: we'll bill you anyhow.

btw: equip used grant money at colleges to develope their particular units and for it's software. they don't like talking about that part.

guess who politically controlls atlanta ?

----------------------------
i had a pentium that did web phone and crude tv IP casts on early windows.

NOT IMPRESSED with monopoly boxes

and they buy supercomputers with the cash they tucked away on things like rate hikes and continual forced upgrades, to insure no one can compete

that's where it at. they got your taxes and sit on huge infrastructures they didn't pay for. the customers did at one point.

Really thinking about it. The only things keeping me bent over the table are Jeopardy, COPS and the occasional NHL game.

Might try crying foul. See if that works.

Yeah no bandwidth caps with Comcast, which is cool. But I'm at around 1.5 gb/month, don't stream much.

Buy your modem so you don't have to keep renting it.

I have always found it to be the opposite, with downloads of shows or movies to be of much higher quality than any of the crap thrown on cable. For instance you can get a Blu-ray rip of a show when cable only plays it at say 480i.

So, if I need internet, a land line, and would like cable, I pay 195.05 a month with COx. I know it didn't start out this price but sure is up there now - do I have any recourse or just grin and bear it?
