There's like 1 store in the whole mall. How the fuck did they manage to stay open for the last 10 years

I didn't even know they were still open. What stores remain? Are there any places left in the food court?

I liked when they had the burger place that served draft beer. Down two in the food court, then get one in a to-go cup to wander.

macys, sears, and a whole lotta nothing

I can pick up my plain old business casual duds at that macys, in and out, quicker than the bigger malls. Sears is still the place I go once every five years when I need to replace an appliance.

Have you seen the rest of that "Food Court"? Other than Chick-fil-A, it's just generic signage, food places run by local 3rd worlders, no brand name anything. Keep the parking deck for Mark Center overflow and demo everything else.

Poor lonely Santa. I have a friend that works at Landmark. She told me a lot of the smaller stores are only still there because they pay no rent. The mall waived their rent so they would stay.

The only reason many malls survive is because of the many ways they receive 'corporate welfare'.
Like how they help to push the tax burden off unto the poor slobs they employ at minimum wage or slightly above it.
The retail space rents charged is literally theft.
They 'tax defer' any spaces not rented.
W are up against the real estate and business associations with their ever constant push of legislation aimed solely at them getting every corporate welfare break they can. The worm whole with this runs far deeper than most could ever even imagine. Never the less fully know about.
While the corporate executives are making millions hand over fist. With plenty left over to permanently retain entire law firms to play every legislative trick in the book to keep the massive amounts of money flow going straight into their bank accounts.
Why go to shopping malls, anyway? When their is the world wide web? More products at much more competitive prices are available. Even with shipping charges you can obtain any product at relatively 50% of the cost at any given mall store. You do not have to pay the traveling cost. Risk your life in traffic related terrorism. No red lights and burning up a gallon or two of gasoline sitting still in traffic jams.
The only trips to any mall should be for getting food at any given grocery store.
Other than this, shopping malls with their greedy owners need to be boycotted out of business. Make these greedy, already wealthy land owners bite the bullet an go DOWN! Stick o keeping the grocery stores highly competive. In turn, keeping the cost of food down to, reality.
It has all become so out of control it is insane. Along with our government(s?)
That's another sling. Local, state and federal government? How much more crooked levels of government does one nation need?

Used to go there for Santa pictures, shortest lines in the area. But a couple years ago we spotted the neighborhood creep who had to be told to stay away from the playground hanging out there at the kids play area.

Leave it open, getting in and out of Macy's without people or lines is a treat. You can literally walk in, try shit on and be out within 30min. Win.

But for the fact it is in Alexandria, they could offer office space to FCPS. As is posted elsewhere, no one from the general public is allowed in the FCPS offices, so it is not like it has to be in a convenient location or anything.

But anyhow, FCPS could save a lot of money by being in a cheaper building. Note that the school board members don't even hold their office hours at Gatehouse, they hold them at libraries and restaurants. They could still do that.

Don't buy no more appliances from Sears & Sawbux no more. They're all made in China these days, just like everything Sears sells. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
