Cheney moves to McLean

Heard on the news Cheney pulled a muscle in his back moving into his new house in McLean. Anyone know where he moved to?

Before he was VP he lived in a townhouse across 123 from where Chain Bridge Rd ends, like by Blockbuster? It's the town houses where if you literally went straight across 123 at the light, you drive into a little townhouses place. Maybe he kept the house and they're moving back in?

Does Cheney receive lifetime Secret Service protection once he leaves office like Bush, or does it end tomorrow? If so, that must be a rude awakening. My kids are close to the children of a former Deputy AG who lost his US Marshall detail when he stepped down and it was very weird seeing him without a team of officers around.

I think that house was actually owned by someone else, and they let him stay there while they got the stink of Al Gore out of the VP's residence.

I imagine Joe Biden will need the same services to get the stink of Cheney out.

I'm sure all you need to do to find out where he lives is drive around until you see a large number of uniformed secret service cop cars parked everywhere.

He is going to be in a wheelchair at the inauguration and that is the story they came up with. I would venture to guess that the asshole has been in a wheelchair for quite some time because of his bum ticker and this is the cover story they came up with. Seems to me that a bad back is a bad back and sitting in a wheelchair isn't going to make that much difference.

I'm guessing he won't be moving next door to Colin Powell in McLean.

Although, just for laughs, let's imagine Lynne Cheney and Alma Powell meeting up at the McLean Giant. I'd pay good money to see Alma give Lynne a beat-down in the parking lot.

This applies to the Vice-President as well.

http://www.secretservice.gov/faq.shtml#faq9

"In 1965, Congress authorized the Secret Service (Public Law 89-186) to protect a former president and his/her spouse during their lifetime, unless they decline protection. In 1997, Congress enacted legislation (Public Law 103-329) that limits Secret Service protection for former presidents to 10 years after leaving office. Under this new law, individuals who are in office before January 1, 1997, will continue to receive Secret Service protection for their lifetime. Individuals elected to office after that time will receive protection for 10 years after leaving office. Therefore, President Clinton will be the last president to receive lifetime protection."

FWIW, the pres and VP can extend Secret Service protection beyond 10 years as long as they reimburse the govt. for the costs. I'm guessing a guy like Cheney has that kinda dough.

Cheney is so old and has so many health problems, the 10 years he will be given protection may very well be "for the rest of his life".

No, Cheney will live forever, as he lives on panda tears and angel blood (so says Jon Stewart).

Does this mean that we are still providing Secret Service protection to Dan Quayle?

No. See, about 9 years ago, the secret service guys told him they were going to use their special cloaking device so that nobody would see his security detail (it's safer that way). Then they just stopped showing up at his house every morning.

He still believes they're all around him, though.

McLean is only a temporary home. He'll spend most of the rest of life at the Hague as a guest of the International Criminal court defendng the war crimes charges.

Nah, just a fantasy.

Unfortunately, it is just a fantasy.

I think he also still owns a home in Wyoming, so I'm sure this will just be his base of operations while bilking even more money out of the government via defense and military support contracts.

BTW, the story about him hurting his back moving stuff into his new home is bunk. I drove by the place, and it is completely empty. All the lights are on, but there's nothing inside.

LOL, Isn't that what half of the people in Northern Virginia are doing already? I am. you?

Of course, he's probably been in a wheelchair for the better part of the last 2 or 3 years. He got so used to it that he couldn't stand anymore.

I actually agree with you on that. I bet anything that his heart is in such bad shape that he gets winded easily. That's why you didn't see him at the RNC convention.

Maybe not half, but close enough.

I'm not. I help to bilk advertisers out of their money by creating websites for news organizations and other publishers. But I guess that just puts me one or two off, since a lot of the advertisers are defense contractors and other GSA contractors.

Orangutan hearts are only good for a few years once transplanted. Maybe he's moved on to the executed Chinese Prisoner market by now. Or, maybe, that's what Gitmo was really all about, his personal supply of replacement hearts?
