The us patent trademark office is indicating through recent decisions that it may no longer offer protection for Tge Washington redskins trademark.

a patent costs $1,000 to $7,000 per country for 2,000 countries
there are 50, FIFTY, patents for to make a led blink (yea the 5 cent kind) which are all childs play: yet you can be sued over
the USA PTO is taking in far more offers by foreign countries than local, and refusing to enforce local, is what i hear on the railroad track
they have been playing that story 20 f'ing years

What it means is that anyone (you, me, Sears, etc.) could make items with the redskin logo, colors, etc on it and not be guilty of any trademark infringement.
Danny Boy would be losing out big time in sales.
Think of it, redskin brand condoms, dildos, colostomy bags.

A trademark owner still has property rights and protection in the courts even without a registered trademark. Particularly so in the case of what are deemed famous marks.

In other words, a Federal trademark registration (which the USPTO is considering cancelling---actually a dozen or so) provides certain procedural and evidentiary advantages to the owner of the trademark. Rest assured, if the Redskins' Federal registrations are canceled, and you start selling merchandise with the Redskins name or logo on it, you will be sued and you will lose to Danny and his legal team on grounds of "common law" trademark infringement.
I am not part of Danny's team, just trying to help clear up a common misconception.

all imports. NY was famous for making tight distribution deals to make money on imports, which hurt made in usa products
i don't think walmart helps that situation - whcih is why many towns tried to get legislation to keep them out

to do a en mass law suit only the lawyers will get money out of

You can apply for trademark registration yourself, usually to the Intellectual Property Office of the country where you want the trademark. I know a company that provides such services, for example, trademark registration in eu takes about 7-12 months, and the trademark will be valid for 10 years with the possibility of subsequent renewal. I would recommend going to the professionals because at first glance it may seem like a simple procedure, but it really isn't. "
