Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Does anyone know whether the renovations at University Mall are on schedule and when that debacle of a shopping center will be finished? It was nice that they repaved the entrance off 123 after it deteriorated to something resembling the moon's surface, but the rest of the parking lot is a mess and it looks like most of what they are doing is cosmetic.
I thought that the Giant was going to be totally remodeled, but no sign of that. Is there a new gas station planned for the area in front of Giant? That is all that I can make of the concrete islands.

The interchange with Ox and Braddock? There has been a study and preliminary design done, they were posted here in the past. Final designs or any mention of construction were not listed in the 6 year vdot constrution schedule released a few months ago, so don't expect any changes for the next ten years. Besides, the the GMU entrance is going to solve all the problems.
What's in store for 2014 at University Mall? Well, more stores. A Giant that's twice as nice and double the size. Plus, a destination for every errand you can run under the sun. And eateries from fast to sit-down, from donuts to pizza to fresh produce, to American to Japanese to Italian. University Mall has it all. With much, much more to come.
The improvements to the 123/Brddock interchange are in the plans and funded, supposed to start in 2015. There will be 2 left turn lanes in every direction at that interchange once those are complete. And with GMU's new cross campus connector road to be finished later this year, traffic to Patriot centr and GMU traffic from the west (which often backs up past Shirley gate) will be able to turn left at the entrance to Brecon ridge and take this road under Rt123 to the GMU parking lots. OUr representative Tim Hugo, and supervisors Herrity, Cook and Bulova deserve a lot of credit for getting these improvements planned and funded.
Well for being'in the know' that sure did end with some major brown-nosing. Don't forget to tell them tomorrow at work that you're guest22222 quite a few brownie points there. BTW, isn't your zip 22222 in Arlington tho?

None of that work will address west bound Braddock wich is frequently a parking lot from 123 to Rollling rd. Besides GMU, 123 has become a major north-south route, nothing short of an overpass will fix this intersection.

Man, what's wrong with you two? What do you want? Classic authentic ancient architecture with fancy restaurants and high-end stores? Both are good enough places for me to visit and use.

Too bad that GMU entrance only helps one of the four directions. Its still a shit show during AM and PM rush hour.

Looks like there is a Taphouse and Billiards bar going in at the end of the buildings behind Bryon's. If the food is even half decent, it will but a hurting on Bryon's business. So far, it reminds me of Carpool in Arlington. Looks like it will be a fun place to go in the summer.
I wonder if that is really what is going in there, as the article said opening last Spring? The side of the building has a sign up that says "Tables and Taps".

Liberal ecoterrorists have identified a rare, endangered species of cockroach in the Giant, and now it must be preserved as is.
