Ride Along with FCPD

I'm interested in doing a ride along with a Fairfax County officer. Is there a form that I fill out online or do I have to go to the station and do something? Has anyone done a ride along before?

Well, you could always commit a felony...that would get you a "ride along", but I don't think that you were looking to be cuffed and in the back seat.

I believe the OP is referring to how the FCPD creates revenue.

i.e., what kind of fine is necessary for one driver 8 miles over the limit vs. 3 cops at the scene.

a friend of mine was interested in becoming a cop a few years ago, go to ur local substation, they should have forms at the reception area, its like a 2-3 page questionare, u turn it in, it'll get approved or unapproved and they will let u know when to come in. i think u get to put preference in for what shift, like day shift or night shift

If I know an officer can I request to do the ride along with him? Or do I just get randomly assigned?

doubt it, they prolly dont want conflicts of interest or dont trust their ppl enuf to let them drive their friends around... although that would be a sweet loan sharking side job, ride around w/ police protection shaking ppl down. i wonder if they let te ofc wives ride with them... prlly not cause theyre affraid they'd be having sex in the cars

This is correct. I've actually done SEVERAL ride-a-longs with FFX among other local juridictions. It's very interesting.

Yes you can do it with him, but it needs to be approved by his Sgt or Lt.

I have personally rode along with a P.O. I did not fill out any forms or need to have permission granted. Pretty much anything goes when no one is looking. Wives, friends, beers, whatever, whenever, however. Get it on whenever you feel the urge. Police officers do what they do when no one is looking, but let us not forget that they continue to sweep the streets free and clean of scum. Much love and a shout out goes to all those hard working cops. Fellers and the beautiful lady cops who put duty above life, we patriots love you. I just came back from Iraq. Pretty ugly out there. Support your troops, and support your local law enforcement.

Ya know... whenever I have questions about government forms and proceedures I always turn to the experts on FfxU. That way I know I'm getting the most accurate up-to-date info possible. Calling the police dept public affairs office is something only a dumbass would do.

And most of the people on this forum are more likely to have rode in the backseat than in the front of a police cruiser anyway.

Why would anyone want to ride around for a night with a power hungry asshole?
Unless of course he has beer.

Grab a warm friend, get the DVD below and you can ride along in the comfort of your living room.

If you do choose the ride along, be prepared for a boring night of
"backing up" the cop that originally pulled over the guy who did a California stop at a stop sign.

I can think of many more fun and exciting things to do such as:

1. pulling out my fingernails with a pair of needlenose pliers
2. waterboarding
3. performing surgery on my pets.
etc...

Obviously I was going to call eventually, I just thought I'd see what people on here had to say first. Quit being a smart ass. I'd insult you, but I'll give you a break since I know you post on OCDO.

I get a free ride along at least once a week or more. Sometimes when they are taking me to ADC I get to ride along a extra amount of time lookimg for a perp or if there is some sort of APB or net set. It's cool sometimes i've sobered up by the time ive been booked so I get to go home and not sleep it off in the tank. The 35 bucks is getting expensive tho.
