My wife and I went to the meeting too at WTW and also felt like we had been read a bunch of platitudes. Calm the sheep with caring buzz words. Both of us had bullshit meters pinging off the scale, except for the kids who spoke. They were earnest and sincere in their efforts but I have small hopes for their clubs success. What really pissed us off was none off the adult speakers had the balls to address the elephant in the room directly. So many deaths in such a short time, again only platitudes and oblique references to this valid concern were offered by these folks. BS. Who is going to refer their kid, and what kid will self refer when we all know how Fairfax loves to collect information on everyone? Would a self out familial referral for psych help follow a student in their records through school and on to college?

What's the elephant in the room? That some of our Woodson students have committed suicide? We already know that. It's really sad too, thank you. So what solution from the staff and admin are you looking for that you didn't hear at the meeting?

This is nothing new, when I went to this school we had more drug addicts than straight kids, it was all white (what a concept) and we only had one suicide in 4 years.

Back in the 80's the school had a problem with the girls being prosititues.

Also In my time we had an English teacher who liked boys, a coach who pushed steroids, a history teacher who had to use methadone because of heroin addiction, and drug dealing demerol pushing counsellors.

Of all of them, the history teacher was my favorite, he'd let us read magazines and we'd watch him nod out, we found out he was stealing fentanyl from his wifes anesthesia kit but when she had none, she would write him the methadone prn.

Kids are smart, if the teachers are bad, the kids know, that being said a molesting teacher isn't the cause.

Suicides at Woodson are tied to social cliques and the over emphasis placed on kids and their online (out of school) status, it's that simple.

School admins should install cell jammers on campus, it would alleviate the in-school pressure and allow kids to forget the internet for a while, of course jammers are illegal so it's not really possible.

Sad to see so many kids are killing themselves, personally I'm scared to die what the heck would make someone want to die early?? Possibly steroid rage, drug induced psychosis, or depression brought on by the aforemnetioned issues.

Be glad the school has not become "WT COLUMBINE", apparently Colorado has the murder issue topped while Woodson has the suicide issue held in high regards.

I've been told sucidal people are borderline with homicidal, the suicidal person thinks "Poor Me I can't take it" but the homicidal person thinks "Poor Me, that darn XXX caused this" and the XXX gets killed before the killer.

Whatever's going on, it needs to remain constant, please don't introduce reasoning into the equation, it would end in mass casualties if kids started to point fingers and we'd see "WT COLUMBINE" in the news.

On the issue of "Expsosure", Asbestos was present in the cafeteria and auto shop up until 1984, all the newly completed construction could indeed stir up some particles which escaped removal but it wouldn't create a suicide complex in any way shape or form, it would cause cancer but nobody will be able to trace it back.
