Stay away from Epiphany Episcopal Church in Oak Hill. Actually, you’ll learn firsthand, as I did, that you as a newcomer aren’t welcome anyway so don’t bother wasting your time. Go to St Anne’s in Reston or St. Tim’s in Herndon if you are looking for an Episcopal Church to call home.
Epiphany’s Matriarchs and Patriarchs, a core group of old timers (old in both age and the time they’ve been with this parish) want to keep this church to themselves.
The Diocese of Virginia is throwing approx 16k per month to keep the lights on at this pretty huge church, but with only 50 or so folks showing up it won’t last long.
Epiphany’s motto used to be, “God loves you no exceptions”. What a joke. It is just like that line from George Orwell’s book, Animal Farm, All animals are equal but some are more equal than others’.
If you don’t suck up to the Matriarchs and Patriarchs you are anathema and will be scorned and ignored. No wonder attendance is so low.

You didn't make the mistake of showing up straight did you? Cause these days the Episcopal Church is all about advancing the homosexual agenda.

I thought the important thing was communing with god, isn't it?

Otherwise, sounds like some social club.
