Double Secret Probation Buildings

Where are all the black ops/super secret/nsa/cia/fbi builds in the area? Been hearing there's one on 28 near centreville that was found recently by accident (something about a comptroller stumbling across it during an audit -- or something like that?)

pretty hard to hide a building; drive by and have a look. nothing to see here.

All those secret buildings are disguised as plain buildings. Everybody knows that

The ones with barbed-wire fences, armed guards, and no signage are typically building you should avoid.

It's the invisible ones you really have to be worried about.

Those are generally just sensitive agencies.

Most places that are doing really super-secret national security stuff tend to be pretty non-descript, plain old buildings.

Wasn't the building next to the McDonald's on 123 and Courthouse where the CIA's Bin Laden unit was until it was disbanded in 2003 or 2004?

Also, I think there's another office in some building in Tyson's where they fly predators.

The best way to keep a secret office in some building a secret is to not call attention to itself.

Or build a building inside a building that is glass or looks like nothing you would think it should look like. Or build it underground

The ODNI is located in an office park in Tysons. It is pretty vanilla from the outside except for having a TON of security cameras.

And since there are lots of buildings in Tyson's with security cameras, the Director of National Intelligence doesn't have to do anything special other than just blend into the surroundings.

Besides, a good portion of the buildings all over Northern VA have SCIFs and other security-related facilities. Think about SAIC, Booz-Allen, CACI, etc -- most of the companies in this area have national security contracts.

Let's just say that the ODNI building is "distinctive"...not quite like NRO, but once you notice it I think that it stands out. You are right, however, in that there is a lot of 'hiding in plain sight' going on with these facilities.

Just start randomly walking into office buildings in Fairfax. If you get shot and killed in one, then you will know.

I was led to believe they work closely with EDS, so they could be into all kinds of hefty secret crap... but that was just something a guy told me casually and he clearly didn't know for sure.

But I also agree... that company can't be doing much above-board with zero internet presence.

I was pluralizing it, no wonder I couldn't find it, good catch meeper. that's actually a snappy web page.

And from the looks of it, they definitely could be working a lot with EDS and other technology contractors.

There are at least two in Reston: one at Sunrise and the Parkway, and the CIA campus on Sunset Hills.

Many of the newer buildings in Dulles and Chantilly have SCIFs with varying levels of seurity. Then, or course there is Crystal City.

Heck, they're everywhere!

I know whats in that building, its not scary stuff and its not classified. I used to work for the organization that is housed there. EDS farmed out some of the extra space beginning back in the early 90s. The redundant facility IS classified though, that one is a secret.

Who is this Sheikh, he is starting to annoy me.

Pretty much any company that's a prime contractor with DoD is going to have a SCIF. I don't think I've ever worked in an office that didn't have at least one. FWIW, Northrop Grumman/TASC in McLean supposedly has the largest SCIF in the DC area. I'm sure it is used all the time for big classified conferences and meetings.

I would confirm that info for you, but then I would have to, you know... kill you and shit.

lol, it's not like companies keep stuff like that "secret". What happens inside stays secret, but it's not like they're not allowed to disclose the fact the they do have one. In fact, that kinda stuff gets written into proposals and marketing materials all the time... you want to boast it to potential clients to show them how impressive your facility is.

Nice website that says...very little. I guess if you need their services you really won't be getting details regarding their qualifications and capabilities from a website.

That's what proposals are for. It's not like the govt goes out and surfs the web everytime they need an IT vendor. If you notice the flash animation, it shows a fingerprint, my guess is they're doing some kind of biometrics stuff. And of course they're not going to publish details- they're not going to give their competitors that kind of edge, and if it's classified work, they wouldn't be allowed to publish it.

It says enough for me... technology convergence. That's pretty standard language for a catch-all IT company.

Actually, in my experience, that information is always considered "Sensitive but Unclass."

At one time a bunch of these buildings in the area were marked on http://www.wikimapia.org

They may still be.
