Many people in Fairfax watch the NFL, thus it's Fairfax related. I go watch games at Damons in Fairfax. Is that Fairfax enough for you.

carolina
tennesee
pittsburgh
new york giants

Here's my thinking...

Arizona-
Threw a bunch of picks against Carolina in the regular season and still almost pulled out a win. Arizona is playing much, much better now than in recent weeks because the team was resting many of its starters after it won the division. The Panthers had to battle through a competitive division for the entire season. I think the Arizona defense will step up enough and Kurt Warner will be protective enough of the ball to pull out a win.

Baltimore-
I never believed Tennessee was as good as the Colts when they were 12-0 or the Patriots when they were 12-0. Kerry Collins is not a better QB than Chad Pennington, and look at what Baltimore's defense did to him. Collins will throw more touchdown passes to Ed Reed than his own teammates. This Ravens team is superior to the 2001 Super Bowl winning team.

Pittsburgh-
Norv Turner will figure some way to screw this up.

Philadelphia-
These guys are on a roll. Their defense has been insane. And McNabb has enough receivers, if not great receivers, to help compensate for their shitty running game. The Giants haven't been the same since Plexiglass shot himself.

The Superbowl Match-Up?

Ravens vs. Eagles = The Bird Bowl!

There are probably more Steelers fans in Fairfax than Redskins fans.

From my personal experiences with Norv, the only thing the other team has to do is put a high school girl (not even a totally hot one, a moderately attractive one will do) somewhere in his vicinity during crucial spots in the game, and bam, he's finished. Too distracted to work.

This is a stupid topic. Everyone should get a life and stop being consumed by the NFL!

Please note that I did that on January 6th.

I'm not Eli. I complete more than 50 percent and my picks are usually winners for my team.

A Quaker State Bowl could be a possibility, but I still think the Ravens defense will figure out some way to beat the Steelers. I like Kurt Warner and the Cardinals, but their success so far has been based on stopping teams that rely on the run and a game-management QB. That's not the case with Philly, where McNabb can take apart a secondary if given enough time.

You wait until after the first three games are played and until Pitt is comfortably ahead before you post your picks. Are you going to post that you pick Obama winning the election now as well? LOL

Props to WashingToneLocian, I wish I had been betting with him this weekend. 4 correct picks out of four. Does that also include with the spread (would probably only apply to Pittsburgh/SanDiego)?

Thanks. I didn't do the spread.

As for next week, that is much harder. I think Philly will take down the Cardinals because McNabb doesn't rely on play-action and the Eagles screen-passing game can neutralize the Cardinal's secondary. If the Eagles defense can stop Fitzgerald, that is going to force Warner into forcing his throws to Fitzgerald or other receivers. The Cardinals' running game is suspect, so I think Eagles pull out a narrow victory.

Regarding the Steelers and the Ravens, I think it is going to be an evenly matched game. I really think the difference is going to be determined by Special Teams or botched play-calling. I think Thomlin has a tendency to make calls based on gut and not common sense. My head says Pittsburgh, but my heart says Ravens. I will go with my heart and say Ravens by less than 3.

Yes it does. Pittsburgh beat SD by 11. They were favored by 6.

The ravens were #2 in defense behind Tennessee the year they won it all. And Tennessee won the division that year. they are a different team when they hit the playoffs. The Lewis/Stover factor will make or break the game for Baltimore, while Tomlin's group are solid performers who will play the same in the playoffs that they did in-season. You are correct, it is a tough call.

I do recall they abused Kerry Collins in the super bowl that year even worse than yesterday.

If you think it's gonna be a BIRD BOWL, then you have indeed decided on the Ravens in the Steelers-Ravens game.
