Dangerous Copper Theft at Dominion Power Electrical Yard

An unknown person recently stole pieces of copper wire from the Dominion Virginia Power electrical yard in Fairfax, according to Fairfax City Police.

A power company employee contacted police on Friday, Jan. 31, telling officers that the incident happened sometime in the past month.

The unknown person involved cut a hole through the fence surrounding the facility and stole the copper wire.

Copper is an enticing target for thieves because of the price they can get in recycling the material. But it's a particularly dangerous crime when on power company property.

Copper theft attempts have been cited as likely reasons for electrocutions across the country, including South Carolina, where a man died last April, and West Virginia, where a man died last May. A suspect died allegedly trying to steal copper from a utility pole in Minnesota in July.

well get in line.

fiarfax county is selling all the aliuminum, copper, and other metal collected. the crime of the century. where's the money for that? ah i think i know: in their mcmansions and paychecks and lack of funding liability and recless abandonment of managing OPM.

i wonder if india got our metal? no maybe china?

is that how they keep getting recourses cheaper than we can buy their "value added products"

"built for little tiny plastic peice inside otherwise fully metal product you didn't see when purchased that breaks just outside warranty so durable good is trash" ? and your storage areas are full of low end junk? and the little plastic peice is where you can't make anything else work as replacement ? and too strangely shaped to recreate ? like that? about every damn time ?

You're an idiot, of course we sell our metals to other countries. A few years ago, China was our biggest buyer of steel. Wake up and join us in the real world, the United States has been trading with other countries for over two centuries. Jesus Christ, get off the meth.

hmmmm. soon as democrats take over NVA and richmond.

my governor gets ousted illegally i'm not informed of "special election" democrat wins in republican state. though he's accused of fraud in pre election writeups

---------------------------------
next thing i hear spending increase. talks with Koreans. and VA power 1 reactor down.

----------------------------------
i hope i hear better things because i was not informed of election and i read the indictment and see no crime listsed.

by law if they oust a governor with no valid criminal complaint: it's an attack from NJ

Gee accepting bribes/gifts from companies was illegal the last time I checked, even for a Govenor. Maybe you should lay off the Meth and invest in a subscription to the Washington Post.

Don't forget he was bought cheap, and he used our tax payer dollars to validate a weight loss pill made from tobacco leaves.

Can't wait until the illegals start cutting and stealing copper ground wires inside substations. Refried beaners!
