LA Fitness: The health club will include a basketball court and pool. Its entrance, adjacent to but separate from the mall, will be located next to Target, facing Loisdale Road. The same health club will soon open a location at the Wegmans-anchored Hilltop Village Center at Beulah Street and Telegraph Road in Alexandria, 2.3 miles away from the Springfield Town Center.

Regal Cinemas: It’s unclear how many screens the theater will have, but permits show that Regal is the tenant. Regal also operates a 16-screen multiplex in Kingstowne, exactly 3 miles away from the mall. It will be interesting to see how both fare given their close proximity.

Yard House: From Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Capital Grille, Longhorn Steakhouse, et al), this Irvine, Calif.-based eatery and tap house features a glass-enclosed keg room that holds as much as 5,000 gallons of beer. The closest location is Virginia Beach, Va., but Yard House is in active expansion mode, with at least seven restaurants scheduled to open in 2014 across the U.S. A spokeswoman for Yard House said she has no information on the mall site "at the moment."

Chuy’s: An Austin, Texas-based Tex-Mex chain. This restaurant's nearest outpost is currently in Richmond, Va. The Springfield location will include a covered patio.
Sarku Japan: The self-described “largest and most successful Japanese quick-service restaurant operator in the United States.”

Yuppies from Alexandria will flock to that place and not have to deal with the disaster that is Pentagon City Mall or Tysons...smart move.

Sarku is coming back?

They recently opened a location on Jeff Davis Highway and I saw a sign for one pop up as an upcoming tenant at Brookfield Plaza. Interesting that they'd open one just across the highway at the mall, too.

Oh well. Thank God I can go to either of those two locations to get my Sarku fix and not have to brave the gang-infested shit show that Springfield Mall part II will invariably be.

Remember Hot Sam? Loved those pretzels, the lines were so long waiting for them to make the next batch on that carousel heater. Also, there was a taco stand right outside the old korvettes (where target is now/Bottom floor level). it had iron gates on the outside...think it was before taco Laredo.

Montgomery Wards was where Target is now. Korvettes became the wing of the mall that led down to the food court and the other theaters. The Taco Laredo was in that space you are talking about but, if I remember correctly, it was originally a Taco Bueno before it became Taco Laredo.

Why thank you for the compliment. Just to clarify, when I say white sluts I say that in the most lovable and appreciable way possible. I adore and love white sluts in long boots. They are my favorite!

Bring back the Orange Bowel, kick out all the beaners and niggers and arm the security guards or it will flop.Shut down Target too , they suck. Then maybe think about bringing back Godfathers pizza and that big Red super slide that was there before the Mall.Yeah that's it, tear down that Mall and give us back our slide.

Stop lying. Your hating ass lives out in centrevile!!! Not like Mclean is a great place to be in since it's further out in the boondocks. I lived in Arlington for 23 years but relocated to Springfield and it was a great decision for me. Looked at houses all over in Bethesda, Silver Spring, Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale but didn't look any further out in the boondocks!

Back in the 1960s, the super slide was on Commerce Street next to the Lums restaurant. Fun times were held by all!

The Lums restaurant came first, then the Super Slide. When the slide was removed, the Village Inn Pizza Parlor was built pretty much where the slide was, right next to Lums. The pizza place was hopping on weekends!

Sad they've changed again and again over the years. Lums is now a Title Max store and the Village Inn is now an El Paso.

But hey, I remember the super slide and we had fun!! Thanks for the memories!
